Hi Guys,

I'm planning to buy a new machine with Skylake chipset and with DDR4 memory and GTX970. The reason is that within a year we will have Oculus Rift which requires GTX970 as minimum. I don't want to buy a new machine again just, maybe a new video card.

Do you have any issues with DDR4 and Skylake chipset playing DCS?

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Well the only issue I would have with it, is I am jealous!!

:)

I am sure others with a Skylake will chime in, but I can't see how it would not perform great for you!

Personally I think you should consider a GTX 980 Ti to compliment that nice system.

I have absolutely no issues and DCS is at the best I ever saw it - fps are great with all the eye-candy enabled (bar depth of field, but that's a problem with the sim, not the configuration).

Also, I was thinking to overclock my cpu when I first got it, yet it's doing so well @ 4.2 (base freq should be 4.0, in fact with turbo enabled is 4.2, so I just set it to stay enabled all the time) that I have no need to do that. In fact, I capped the fps at 120, to avoid unnecessary power consumptions. All in all, it's a great gaming cpu imho.

I have the i5-6600k with Z-170A and R9-390.

It doesn't even cough at maxed settings in 1.5

highly recommended.

A lot of rumors suggest nVidia will be releasing a new generation of video cards in 2016 (Pascal architecture-based). I'm personally waiting for this before considering upgrades to my personal rig -- the 980TI is great but at this point it's almost two years old.
