caponi Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 hi guys, this evening i shot down a friendly plane on the vvs504-server ... i flew a F-15 (USA,blue) and there are other blue F-15 and red Israeli F-15. so: on distance a redF15 was a rectangle and a blueF15 was a circle. jammer of friendly are brighter then enemies? when i locked the F15 i get the star for primary target. i knew what i locked ... okay. in dogfight i use the autoACQ vertical scan. automatically i locked a plane. in the VSD i see the plane as a F15, but i cannot identify this F15 as friend or foe. no symbols in HUD or in VSD give me an IFF info. in a SU-27 locked targets (in radar-mode) are marked as fully triangles or circles, so you can identify the target. please give me a help to identify autolocked targets in a F15. kinds regard Caponi ps: i have made a training mission with a friendly and an enemy plane of the same planetype. if the targets are locked there is no difference in HUD or VSD between friend or foe :( 1 too much ...
GGTharos Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Correct, this feature is missing. All you can do is: a) KNOW which one's which beforehand somehow b) unlock, go to bvr, and check that way c) keep him locked and check the markings on his plane [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
S77th-konkussion Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 c) keep him locked and check the markings on his plane LOL yes you will have a spectacular view of him as he flies by your chute.. oh now that's just plain evil.. sorry.. :P 1 [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Hehehe ;D Every now and then it's feasible (eg. you're in a close fight and you have a friend with you) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Guest IguanaKing Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Bah...oh well...its a lot like current ROE in certain situations. ;)
caponi Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 okay, the F15 has a little disadvantage :music_whistling: another thing is also possible: declare target if awacs is available ... but that lasts its time. cu Caponi too much ...
Bungle_uk Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Another option is to put "Raygun" into the team chat. Not 100% but it is possible you may get a "buddy spike" back
caponi Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 oh yes ... i know it from Falcon4 the KI doesnt use this feature in Lockon ... and ... i will learn for online-playing ... thx Caponi ps: gibts hier auch deutschsprachige lockon-piloten und ... in welchen deutschen foren tummelt ihr euch ? too much ...
G3 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 good question about IFF, slightly OT here, not being familiar with actual RL ROE i can't say if its normal practice. i watched a doco recently on the vietnam conflict where the us pilots had to do as GGtharos suggested in option C, which was to identify the bandits by eye before engaging/attacking, sound dam risky to me. guess it better than shooting down a friendly, although it puts you in a rather vunerable predicament to have to get so close before firing.
