simonairads Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Questions from a confused pilot please. #1 for DCS Mig21 - downloaded last week - I can no longer cold start the engine. I've tried multiple times with the check list and nothing happens once I press engine start. Even tried repairs option! #2 The SAU approach and landing mode does not appear to work for me as smoothly as it works for John in the [DCS] MiG-21Bis RSBN + SAU Landing Modes YouTube videos - I've been trying all weekend an I can't get the flight director and autopilot to work as advertised. #3) The Saitek X52 joystick is unbelievably sensitive even after attempting to modify it's settings for a smoother dead zone. Worse than flying a real DA42 What I mean by this is I can follow the VOR to an aerodrome but I'm simply not getting he RSBN bars until the very last moment and if I go to full auto on the SAU panel , it simply dives the aircraft straight into the deck! Should I simply re-install the product? PS.. Aircraft works OK from runway position powered-up by RSBN problem persists after spending hours attempting multiple approaches to Krmisk 08 from Nachik
TomCatMucDe Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 i cold started normally, you forgot a switch for sure: 1. all 3 fuel pumps on 2. APU on 3. disengage the throttle and leave it idle or slightly higher 4. start the engine
Corrigan Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Regarding joystick sensitivity, a deadzone isn't ideal. Using "axis tune" in the controls settings you can flatten the curve around the centre (although maybe that's what you mean). OverStratos Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 1. all 3 fuel pumps on You don´t need the three fuel pumps, just the rightmost one (main consumer pump). Also, this is by the ac starting procedure manual. Once the engine is running, you can start the others. 3. disengage the throttle and leave it idle or slightly higher Idle will be enough. This is by pressing the stop lock in the throttle. (I´m thinking this could be the problem)

For some unknown reason the throttle setting I had it on before doesn't work now, Throttle was 'Fractionally' too far beyond idle. It works OK now.

The moment I read your first post the stop lock appeared in my mind.:D
