VMFA-Blaze Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Now this is a real blast from the past (LOL) I've been meaning to actually post this for a very long time but couldn't get it in the right format... Well after searching the web I finally found a free converter and so here it is. (HEHE).... This photo is from The SU*27 Flanker users manual that came in a big box with the Squadron Commanders CD... It was from Strategic Simulations, a Mindscape Company.. And the manual is dated 1995.... s Things really have changed (LOL)... But seriously you gentleman looked good there.... ~S~ Blaze 1 intel Cor i7-6700K ASUS ROG MAX VIII Extreme G.Skill TridentZ Series 32 GB Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SATA II ASUS GTX 1080/DIRECTX 12 Windows 10 PRO Thrustmaster Warthog Oculus Rift VR
badaboom Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Yeah times sure have changed.......remember when you bought a game that came with a REAL manual?.....I mean one that explained weapons systems and flight information, multiple pages of great information......I remember when I opened the JANES F/A-18 box.....that thing is a novel! BladeLWS Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 So was the Janes F-15E manual, took me a few days to read through that, it was great. But now companies are pinching pennies and writing them in PDF format or not even including a manual. And usually its just how to install and troubleshoot, almost nothing on systems and weapons.
Shaman Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Oh, man I loved original Flanker so much. I had the manual but in all was translated into Polish. Then there was Flanker 1.5. As far I recall correctly you had campagins that actually gave you limited resources (limited planes and limited weapons) you could use during the entire campaign. So you had to plan wise (your own flight and friendly AI flights, leave the most expensive weapons for really important targets etc.). Good stuff that was dropped in Flanker 2.0 and LockOn. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

mikoyan Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I still tink that flanker 1.0 was more interesting to fly than lock-on. I loved the RWR because it was very estressing:geek:
