I keep having the engine flame out in my MiG-21 while maneuvering. Is there some maneuver i shouldn't be attempting? or is it too quickly changing the throttle for the engine? its getting annoying because some times the emergency restart doesn't work.

Avoid any AF maneuver with more then 1 sec at negative, zero G.

If you had to, don't afterburner it will flame out in seconds. To in air you need at least 500 ias and reduce the throttle, the startup doesn't always work.

Check the "Chuck's guide" or proper the manual for details and keep practicing after a while you will get used and you will not notice those limits...

I'm talking after a multiplayer session which I lose s chance if a 27 tail for a pitching too much and flame out. Remember to roll 180 before :)

Go through chapter 5. "Operational limitations" in the manual. Learn all that stuff and you will get much less flameouts.

I think the one that caused me the most trouble when I was starting out was that I didn't respect the "never exceed 1300km/h IAS".

Well mine seems to occur while performing High G turns.

The manual is some what lacking on combat tactics like what to do if i overshoot on a guns kill approach. I've been using the afterburner to make a high speed loop to go up and around and back behind the target or banking really hard like i said i can't seem to fix it down to 1 specific maneuver.

I guess it just comes down to I don't know how to fight the MiG 21, Energy Fighter tactics or Dogfighting tactics.

If you're doing a large loop you might be going ballistic (Accelerometer shows 0G) near the top of the loop. If you do that for too long you'll starve the engine- it needs positive G to feed fuel correctly.

As far as overshooting is concerned, you've got the right idea if you're going up. Its better to retain your energy by doing a zoom climb than to do a High-G turn in an attempt to get back on your enemy's tail (and bleed lots of energy in the process).

It is worth noting however that bullets and missiles are faster than planes. Performing a zoom climb that is perfectly straight and takes you out right in front of your target is a very bad idea- You'll make a perfect target for a heatseeker shot or even a guns burst. Instead you should try to curve away to the side as you climb. If you suspect your enemy has missiles then it might be advisable to launch some countermeasures as well.
