nscode Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 There was some talk about SPO-15 geting something done in Ru forums, but don't know what exactly and when that was and if they are still with that. So, there might be some hoap for avionics :) at least these small fixes Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Geier Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 There is no way to IFF in the LockOn F-15 under any of the auto lock modes (Boresight, Verticle, etc...). You also cannot IFF when your target is locked. So if you lock someone, and you are unsure if he is friend or foe, you have to unlock, scan him in RWS or TWS, see the little rectangle.. and relock. PITA! The only way to IFF while flying the F-15 is in RWS or TWS mode and scan him to see a rectangle. The Russian birds are able to IFF when target is locked.. and/or boresight.. etc From what i understand, the real F-15 puts a a big X on the lock box if he is friendly. Hopefully ED fixes this in Blackshark. Hey GG.. LTNS :) Do you know if they fixed this? Can you say? lol :pilotfly: Edit: Let me also add.. there is an indirect way to IFF a target afte its locked, if you are clever. By process of elimination, you can check what your enemy team is flying. Once you lock a target, you will get target type on bottom center of VDS. So if you see a MiG-29 there, and you have no MiGs on your team.. fire away and blast that sucker to mars! Unfortunately.. there is alot of mix and match with planes among red and blue, so you gotta be careul with that one. I always try to know where my teammate migs/su's are. This way if i need to use boresight.. im good to go. Its all SA... hope this helps.. Vielen Dank:) ! I agree: there is a strange situation with planes are using by red and blue. Recently I`ve read a book about air war over Balcans in 1999. American pilots had no problem with identification enemy fighters. They`ve just seen the type of radar on RWR and shot enemies without any problem. It would be great, if ED makes "a big X" in Blackshark...
cool_t Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Aim 120 I could throw rocks with out active radar and still hit my target. :joystick: cool t I once saw cool beans do the cobra on his chair.
Rhen Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 The graphic for the F-15 HUD X is already there, but not tied into any type of IFF. It only seems to pop up when distance to target is less than Rmin. That's modeled appropriately & called a "Break-X" that tells you what pilotasso said.:) The X you get with IFF happens when you lock a target up and interrogate it's IFF an "X" will appear in the box around the target, telling you that you've locked a friendly.:) It's quite difficult, with current graphics technology, to VID and sort your foe in a LOMAC guns fight when he's flying an Israeli F-15 and you both are in a turning fight AND you both have wingmen. A four-ship of Eagles vs another 4-ship of Eagles simply invites fratricide in LOMAC. Yes there's ways of getting around it like BUDDYLOCK and BUDDY SPIKE calls, or flight discipline, but when you're padlocked on a bandit and your getting audibles telling you that you're locked up, Who the hell knows who's locking whom? In LOMAC, flying a LOMAC F-15, in a big furball, in a guns fight is more difficult than IRL. :noexpression:
UWBuRn Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 The 15 is getting a new AMRAAM, but in general, no. I'm pretty sure they'll be handled in more detail in the fighter project. Tank Killers will bring (or should bring) WAFM to all weapons, but seekers I think will be left alone. And as i said, I don't think they're touching the avionics. Good to know the new 120. That will really help waiting for the fighter project ;)
