I wondered if the Ka-50 version modeled has any usefull night attack ability. As the NVG will be modeled, it seems the Ka-50 is indtended to operate at night. So is the Shkval TV sight capable of operating at night in good lighting conditions ? If not, does the NVGs offer good enough resolution to make out targets by eye and conduct unguided attacks with rockets and guns ?

diverplane is on the money. The NVG's are just for transiting at night.

on the subject of night time in lockon ....

just did a a10 night refuel mission, boy it was tricky,

i slewed the ir mavrick over to the boom to see it in the dark .

does the boom not have a light on it or the a10s refuel hatch ?

so we can see the boom in the dark ?

think the real russian su33 also has a light on it to see the chute at night ....

....would be nice to have somthing like this for night time gassin up....

Ok, thanks for the answer guys.

The Shkval being a TV sight, do you think that it could operate at night in real life ? Perhaps in a clear night with full moon there is enough contrast to actualy use it ?

I wonder what the reasons where to fit an attack helicopter with NVGs ( and paint the 'Black Shark' black ) if it isn't capable of operating at night ( apart from transits ).
