JEFX Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hi all! After several hours fiddling with the graphical options, with my system I found an immense difference in FPS with or without : DEPTH OF FIELD... (both kinds) Especially outside the aircraft... with DoF I was aroud 15-17 FPS and without, I came back up to the 50-70 that is more logical with my system. (inside the aircraft it didnt change that much). Just interesting to note! JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
Kayos Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I heard flat shadows make a big difference for some too. Remember there are 2 places for flat shadows. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Eight Ball Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Especially outside the aircraft... *I think* that's because when you're in 1st person view, there's no DOF. Just like there's no DOF when you use the F11 view (free camera). It looks like the DOF only works when the camera is "attached" to a vehicle and it calculates the DOF according to that vehicle. On the left, picture taken with the F2 view, then I just pressed LCtrl+F11 and took the picture on the right As you can see on this pic, taken with the F2 view, the focus is always made on the related aircraft, no matter where you are or if said aircraft is on screen. It is indeed very ressource hungry and at the moment I don't know if anyone plays with it. But it's wonderful for screenshot :) Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
vicx Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Preach it, Eightball. It is amazing how many people have been trash talking the DOF feature for ruining their framerate in the cockpit ... but it's all just in their heads. But it's wonderful for screenshot. Amen to that.
