Hi,

Got a new Asus R20AJ ROG gaming system arriving sometime next week.

Obviously i want to make the process of re-installing DCS World 2.0 Alpha, all modules and probably 1.5 Beta too as painless as possible.

Can i copy all the relevant folders/files from my existing system to a portable HD then onto the new PC in the correct location and just run the updater/installer to check for and install any new/additional files needed etc?

Or, dare i ask it? Will i have to do a fresh re-download and install from within 2.0 and 1.5 interfaces? Please say NO!!!

Thanks.

No...:D.......

I think you can copy all over, but all activations goes 1 off. I personally never did this, but i know this will happen.

Ok, cool well i'll certainly try that first anyway?

Yeah, the activations thing? Never really been able to get my head around paying my hard-earned green for something but then one day having to run the risk of paying for it again just because i upgraded or had to do a system restore or some such?

I mean i completely understand copyright protection and DRM etc. but a finite number of times seems draconian to me?

Still i've got plenty of activations left on all modules and once installed on new PC that should be it for a couple of years at least?

Thanks for the heads up!

If all activations are gone, you get 1 activation back a month, so you don't have to pay again. Only can cost it some time. This was happened to me :D

You will want to install the base 2.0. After that you should be able to move the and replace all of your OpenAlpha folders. Run a repair afterwards just to be sure nothing became corrupted.

It May be to late for this but, I always order PC with out the OS installed in order to allow the transfer of my existing OS and files onto the new PC.

I usually have things set the way I like them on my older PC and prefer to just set the newer PC just as my older one is set up. Migration Tools are awesome.
