In Multi-Player generally everybody does exactly what they want to, when they want to. Most of the time players are pretty considerate and don't get on the runway if somebody is coming into land, but some times people wanting to take off don't see that somebody with a damaged a/c is trying to land and things can get pretty hairy :joystick:

I'd like to suggest that the ATC actually keeps track of who is authorized to use a runway at a specific time. This would require players to cooperate, of course, by requesting take off before entering the runway, and requesting to land, and of course that players actually follow the ATC's instructions 1).

Also, add an Emergency Landing Request so that the ATC can prioritize an aircraft's landing over others waiting to take off. A/C which are not shot-up can be told to take up a holding pattern ("Go around and wait for landing clearance").

One last thing, for a/c which belly land on the runway or just cannot get off it under their own power, have a crane come and carry them to a parking area. Doesn't have to be heavily realistic, just get the runway clear.

For the wreckage of those unluckies who didn't land or take off so well or got destroyed on the ground , have a bulldozer to clear the wreckage off the runways and taxi ways--especially the ramp-spawn points--basically, anywhere aircraft have to be or go--,which can get cluttered with wreckage after a couple hours of a good MP game :D

1) One could also have the ATC nag players who don't cooperate ("Colt 1 get off the runway! You are risking court marshal!"), and you could put it into the game score of the players :P

I think ED are reworking the ATC management, but yeah... I like your ideas. MP is oftenly some kind of a jungle, people usually don't know whats the runway on service, they don't listen to the ATC (even though it's sometimes broken).
