Im considering buying a new monitor, and upgrading from my crappy Samsung LED monitor. Im quite happy with playing at 1080p, but I wanted to get one of those fangled new high Hz refresh rate monitors so I can dispense with VSYNC and get something close to the color and image quality of the legendary 100Hz CRT displays.

I can get a pretty good deal on the Benq 3d 144Hz monitor, but the cheapest Gsyinc equivalent is literally double the price. Is Gsync really worth it? Would I notice much screen tearing with just a regular 144Hz monitor?

As a freesync user (MG279Q and 290X), I would say that I wouldn't be able to go back to fixed refresh rate, but with that said, the price premium for g-sync is crazy and doesn't really seem to be worth it in my opinion.

I run an Asus 27" LCD 144 hz monitor , never run with vysnc on and do not notice any screen tearing.
