OnlyforDCS Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) Im considering buying a new monitor, and upgrading from my crappy Samsung LED monitor. Im quite happy with playing at 1080p, but I wanted to get one of those fangled new high Hz refresh rate monitors so I can dispense with VSYNC and get something close to the color and image quality of the legendary 100Hz CRT displays. I can get a pretty good deal on the Benq 3d 144Hz monitor, but the cheapest Gsyinc equivalent is literally double the price. Is Gsync really worth it? Would I notice much screen tearing with just a regular 144Hz monitor? Edited December 6, 2015 by OnlyforDCS stupid Mhz mistake... Brisse Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 As a freesync user (MG279Q and 290X), I would say that I wouldn't be able to go back to fixed refresh rate, but with that said, the price premium for g-sync is crazy and doesn't really seem to be worth it in my opinion.
dburne Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I run an Asus 27" LCD 144 hz monitor , never run with vysnc on and do not notice any screen tearing. Brisse Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 If colour and image quality is what you are after, look for an IPS type monitor.
