Since patch 1.5.2. I got multiple radio issues with the L-39 (Ground Crew responses without sound, no ATC response on any channel at all). It worked perfectly fine before the patch. Anyone encountered similar problems?

Edit for a more detailed report:

- Issues noticed on cold and hot start instant action as well as custom missions (blue team, English audio and hud, no gunsight)

- With engines running ground crew only responds in text, no audio

- No low altitude warning test sound when starting the aircraft

- Squelch test on radio only works after dialing up radio volume switch which seems to reset to 0 after every radio button press

- ATC contact seems to be acknowledged for taxiing sometimes, but no proper text and audio response. No reaction at all for engine start request

- All issues tested from from front cockpit at Kutaisi and Beslan on correct channels as well as in flight and approach to various airports

Ground crew works for me in 1.5.2.

Have noticed a few other issues with the radio though:

Squelch test of main radio only works if you've first tried it on the standby.

On main radio, I didn't get an audible response when asking for taxi or takeoff, just text. ATC does correctly respond when aborting (and when you've returned to the parking area).

When in flight, main radio was not getting an reponses when asking for position information, spare worked fine. Main did work when telling ATC I was inbound and worked correctly through landing.

Note: This was with the aircraft set to Blue and USA. Same issue with Russian.

Also: Sure would be nice to have a bugs subforum ;)

Update:

Interestingly, when in flight, wouldn't get a position information on main for the pilot at all, however if I made the request as the pilot then immediately move to the backseat, I'd correctly hear the response.

I've only done a quick flight from Maykop to Krymsk in 1.5.2 (Czech L-39C, No gunsight, Bluefor airfields, ramp start - English ATC).

It wasn't systematic but missing sounds compared previous flights in 1.5.1 :-

  1. Low Altitude warning - cold start initialisation and in flight (warning lamp works)
  2. Maykop and Krymsk ATC - no/momentary text and no audio for calls on correct channels 04/18
  3. Outer/Inner Marker Audio (Notification lamp lights)

From a hot start - I had Low Altitude and Marker audio until trying to call Maykop ATC.

Playing with different switches/seats - I got audio back and even received one ATC message (Re: visual of runway, call for landing) but the fault was intermittent - over fly a marker and get marker and altitude warning lamps and audio, re-approach from the opposite direction and get only the lamps.

Most of the time audio didn't work and was like the ADF morse audio (i.e. it works if you play with a volume knob for a short while but then stops again).

Edit: This bug report for 2.0 sounds similar/the same http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2576194&postcount=1

I'm having the same issue.

Must point out I'm using the steam version of the game (not necessarily because i want to, but thats a whole different issue i hope to eventually solve).

Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Initially I made a video showcasing the issue since I wasn't even sure how to explain it.

I'm not sure how far the problem goes but my main problem I noticed is the lack of response from the ATC, even though the radio menu keeps progressing so I assume it does acknowledge my radio messages. Tried flying to a few different Airports without any luck.

Must add, after patching, the ingame cockpit STICK was invisible. I managed to get it back by toggling on and off the invisible stick option in the Options menu, but that makes me think this latest patch caused a few issues.

Testing with the Su-25T there doesn't seem to be any issue, as shown in the video.

I've isolated the fault to the radio volume control.

attachment.php?attachmentid=130278&stc=1&d=1450102406

It seems (like the ADF morse volume control - a similar but different fault) to reset to zero when a radio call is made (initialised).

  1. If I contact ATC and quickly adjust the radio volume control - I can hear the ATC reply.
  2. If the radio menu is kept open - I can use a different call i.e. Abort Takeoff and still hear the ATC reply.
  3. If the radio menu is closed, the next reply will be silent unless the volume control is quickly adjusted.

Edit: A work around

  1. With the radio powered ON and TUNED to the correct channel
  2. Open the radio com menu i.e. radio button (RAlt+RShift+I)
  3. Adjust the radio volume knob down and up
  4. Select any radio menu options as required i.e. F1, F5, F3. Request Start-Up
  5. You will hear the ATC's reply

Well that is actually it.

Although from the testing i did i had to turn the radio volume down and up every time i wanted to contact.

But yes that workaround actually works, just down and up the volume every time you want to contact, since apparently it resets the volume to mute since the latest patch (well, for me and possibly a few others at least, that is).

Thanks a lot Ramsay,

while tedious, and hope it gets solved quickly, at least the workaround makes it so you can use the radio.
