Hi Pilots,

I am new to DCS and have the Bison and I am confused as to where is the documentation for Startup / Shutdown.

Will appreciate all help here.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can find good documentation by reading the procedures section in the manual, it describes everything nicely, including numbering each switch. Tutorials are good too for learning how to start up and fly. Once you learn the start up procedure, it doesn't take more than two minutes from cold and dark to taxiing.

No worries, if there's anything else, then ask :)

Bis not Bison, different aircraft ;)

Mmanual is here: \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\Doc

I suggest flying the traning missions as well (from main, menu, TRAINING-> MiG-21bis).

Happy flying

Well pilots , I managed to start her up watching a you tube video :) this bird is so cool to fly. But yeah I am not getting the Landing gear to retract so all my flights were with the gear down making her more heavy and more drag.

Got to check that landing gear stuff will try it later again.

RShift G (releases gear safety lock)

G (cycles gear UP)

LCtrl G (puts gear switch in neutral to preserve air)

LShift G (gear down)

Hey Thanks . I never knew about the gear lock probably not to accidentally retract on ground I guess. Still haven't gone through the whole document.

There are videos explaining it.

But the Landing gear is the big Red lever in the front side of the cockpit.

By default the lever is in the neutral position and there is also a safety lock on it so you will have to flip the lock before you can move the gear lever to the up position.

And also while yes the Indian Bison is a variant of the Mig-21 its very different systems wise compared to the mig-21 bis we have ingame.

But they did not call Mig-21s Bison untill the mig-21 Bison upgrade in the late 90s.

So its not really correct to call the ingame Mig-21 a Bison since its not that variant of Mig-21.

And their capabillities are extremley different.

Yes the Bison is a later version with different capabilites. I have seen the Mig's very close in vertical climbs when I was living very close to the air force and those exercises were almost every morning a fun thing to watch. way back in the '90s

Thank guys appreciate all the help / info.

I think IAF has three variants of the Mig 21, But they shall all be phased by 2018 and possibly go with the Dassault Rafale not a bad aircraft
