I just joined 104th MP server. After taking off and shot down 1 fighter i suddenly get a missile warning out of nothing. No Lock warning and no RWR threat warning.

I was like okay that can happen. I was thinking it was a flanker first. Firing his ER in EOS so if close enough you only get a quick missile warning. Or a AIM-120C fired right of the rails without any lock or any need to turn the radar on. It happens.

So i defeated it..... I think. But it comes again. Can happen maybe another one. So i defeated it again.... I think.

But then i notice this misisle does not come closer on the RWR see i just keep flying towards it. Off course dump some chaff just incase. But to my relief it suddenly disapeared from the RWR. A fraction of second later i see it light up infront of me again and go all around me on the RWR. I seriously had all the time to think WTF is going on. Should i defend??? It's actually to late anyway and it went around on the RWR so probably just some weird RWR behaviour.... But than it hit me!!!!! One of the players...... Roofies you "You sneaky eagle driver" shot me down with a AIM-120C it showed in chat.

I don't know what happened here. The most plausible explanation would be it was multiple AIM-120C fired at me right of the rails from different angels silently with no RWR or lock warning. But it behaved so weird i'm actually baffled that this happened. Maybe it's something totally plausible. It was really good skill from Roofies. Or that missile just turned all the way around me to hit me. With no RWR warning and radar lock.

I included the track. For some reason i can not play it. Can somebody look at it for me and show me what happened?

Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

I'll take a look at it in a minute...by the way, I noticed that if the missile misses sometimes it will flip around on the RWR (it flies past you, the RWR picks it up for a split second kinda behind your plane).

Roofs fired 3 AMRAAMs at you, one of which ran out of energy and landed 1,200ft behind you...and killed you.

TBH, I have a feeling you or him desynced and that's why you died. You died on his client screen --> you die on the server and your client, whether you defeated his missile, crashed, or were scooped up by aliens...if a missile hits you on the other guys screen, you're dead.

Or that's how I think it works, anyway... :(

Note that I used time acceleration in the track, don't know if that still messes with things or not.

1) The reason you were suddenly getting sudden RWR warnings in an intermittent fashion was that the AIM120C was coming at you from over 45 degrees elevation. Turning probably made it temporarily get detected by your RWR.

2) But as sweeper said, it did hit the ground behind you and you blew up.

Random Spamraams Best Spamraams.

They should make a SPAMRAAM that climbs to Low Earth Orbit, flies to the other side of the planet, makes a steep re-entry, and then strikes the unsuspecting target from above 45 degrees angle to avoid RWR detection.

Shoot, I thought SPAMRAAM meant Super Powerful AMRAAM.

Darn it Stuge!

I can't wait for all the "WTF NO RWR WARNING" whining when we get AIM-54...

Yes, as far as net coding is concerned all missiles are controlled by their clients pc and not the server. So if that client reports a kill to the server then that player dies regardless if his computer shows he affectingly survived.

This is generaly true for all computer games. Servers act as an mediator shuffling data from client to client but for the most part servers do little computing.

For the WIN

If your desired effect on the target is making the pilot defecate his pants laughing then you can definitely achieve it with a launch like that.

I could use a ICBM on my F-15. :p

That's not realistic and would ruin DCS. We need a reasonable aircraft for ICBM air to air combat
