Colt40Five Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Okay so I'm finishing up my F-15 campaign (yes I know Thomas just released one...not my fault). And I have a few questions. 1. Is there anyway to make a building destroyed(or better yet on fire) at mission start? I seem to remember some of the BSOPS people talking about this but I can't find anything. 2. I have seen people discuss how they felt one mission builder or another did a good job at making the airfield seem "alive". IMHO it is of limited value as I only see it when taking off and landing, and while it's easy to script things to happen on take-off, it's much harder to gauge exactly when the player flight will land, especially when you set all the AI units to random difficulty (which can make the mission time/difficulty vary greatly). And on top of that, in missions where there are already alot of units it can add to the FPS drain. So first, how important do you think it is, and second, what are good techniques for achieving this? I mean what do you want to see? trucks driving around, helos taking off/landing what? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Esac_mirmidon Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Well i use a thecnique for building impacts in the mission´s start. Simply put a M109 on your side 5 to 10 Km away of the airfied, heading to the building. Then in the editor insert an Attack WP and in objectives insert coordinates or, best, put an objective on top of the building. You can see now a triangle over the objective exactly in the building. When the mission starts the M109 fires several rounds at this objective until total destroy. You can´t see the artillery but the effects are very present at the start. Enjoy that. The only problem is that the buildings I need to be on fire are at the airbase where the player A/C takes off from, and it might look worse for them to be blowing up again..when they are already supposed to be on fire...I'm gonna have to do some testing. thanks for the tip! I´ve tested this feature and i can assure you that there is no danger at all, only pretty fireworks near you, that´s all. I remember one mission that i´ve edited time ago where a SAU Mista was firing over three trucks only 20 meters left of my position inside Mig29-A. The first shell misses for only 10 meters respect my position but the second achivied a direct hit and all the trucks blowed in the air in thousand pieces. Also when you put in the editor a building as an objective, the artillery stops firing when this house is destroyed Try this and enjoy¡¡¡ " You must think in russian.."
