Kindred Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Totally amazing real footage  One of the best I've seen so far.... http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/RaZieL/388/large/
SuperKungFu Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I know this is OT but I'm pretty sure everyone has seen the new patrick site. don't get me wrong, i love his site, i been a long time fan. But with the new outlook and the download function no longer downloads videos in .avi or .mpeg format, but rather some weird .flv file. I can still play it with vlc but i can't scroll through it. i know theres a converter out there but that's kinda a hassle to do for each video. Point is, how many of you guys like the new patrick's site compared to the old one? Personally i would like to see it changed back. Just a simple question to see if im not alone out here, i know patrick probably won't change it because he made it so that people would have a easier time uploading to his site. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kindred Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 True. Patrick aviation site isn’t new, but the flic itself merits some applause. It’s worth the watch. Cheers

I was very disappointed to see the Patrick went to the .flv format :( Google and Youtube are threating the continuation of my 5 year video collection of content with thier stupid low res .flv files. I imagine its alot cheaper, but it really sucks IMO. is this ok?

Agreed..the aviation videos (the one kindred mentioned is worth getting for sure).. was the only good thing about the patrick website , apart from that its the most sucky aviation site I have seen I still think the mirages in chad video is amazing oo err...missus:animals_bunny: ** Anti-Pastie**
NEODARK Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 yeah it looke like a tep backwards with the new design.. bum im sure he diefinitelly did it to save money, so I can understand it. sucks though, welcome to low-res..
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted July 15, 2006 ED Team Posted July 15, 2006 We still have jabogs site though, where we can download high quality movies. :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
Guest IguanaKing Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Everybody should keep in mind that Patrick is just a regular guy like the rest of us, and he almost certainly has to make his living off of something other than his web-site. I agree that the new file storage methods suck, but the more files you have available for download, the more bandwidth you need...and the higher the price you pay. Hell...I'm just glad he offered me a free place to host my pre-first-flight Javelin vids. :D
SuperKungFu Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Well I'm trying to push for the old site back. I would like it if you supported me by telling him in this thread. http://www.patricksaviation.com/forums/?t=692 I know chances are low but i would hate to see this beautiful site turn into something like youtube and google video. Most of those videos are junk whereas patricks site host high quality videos. The recent videos on patrick's site already seems to be wasting some bandwidth (no offence). But seriously there was like 10 F-14 video all on one airshow or something like that. If users want to upload those type of videos they can always do it at http://www.flightlevel350.com/. I believe this streaming thing is actually going to suck up more bandwidth. Well that’s just my 2 cents. If anyone agrees you can help me convince him. Its worth a try to save one of my favorite sites. Btw Iguanaking, whats the ETA on those Javelin vids =) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest IguanaKing Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Well...I looked at the forum links...and at no point did I see anyone offer financial assistance. Granted, I'm not in a position to do that at this point...but, then again, I'm not complaining. SKF...no ETA yet. The Javelin program is not going well, and the people involved closely are all a little stressed at the moment. I tip my hat to Pilotasso for a comment he made on the UBI forum about the Javelin vs. T-38C his brother flies...it seems the Javelin is suffering from the same lift problem. :( This is fine for USAF test, instructor, and student pilots...but for the average, rich, civilian pilot (The Mk10s primary audience), it spells disaster. As such...it spells financial and legal disaster for ATG. Not sure how the current events in the world will have an effect on its major financial contributor, IAI, either. :(
