hellking Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I did not find any similar post anywhere, so here it goes: When I try starting the engine up with the wheel brakes (not the parking brake) fully pressed, brakes have no effect and plane launches forward for a few feet as if brakes are not pressed. When I push the brake right after plane starts moving (but not before), brakes work and it comes to a stop quickly (but fails to provide a safe engine start up because plane still moves 1-2 feet). I don't know if this is the intended functionality or a bug.
nomdeplume Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 The brakes are operated by hydraulic pressure which is provided by the engine, if I understand it correctly. So until the engines are running, the wheel brakes won't work. Not sure how the parking brake is implemented, but it's definitely what you're supposed to use during startup.
Guest deeplodokus Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 that might be why it's specifically documented to use the parking brake, not the wheel brake
IvanK Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 I believe the Park Brakes use stored accumulator pressure so is not dependent on main HYD1/2 pressure.
