Dear ED,

currently there are two air refueling tanker for the M-2000C in DCS: The S-3 Viking Tanker and the Russian IL-76.

I set the S-3 as tanker and wanted to give her an air-to-air TACAN via the advanced waypoint options. But I didn't find such a option, like in the KC-135.

Is there such a feature for the S-3 (in real life) and when we will get it?

By the way: Is there a newer model for the S-3 planned?

Kind regards,

Fire

Probably the real S-3 isn't capable of A2A TACAN. What I've learned here is that the necessary equipment is quite bulky and/or energy hungry so that it only fits into larger aircraft.

It is. Any aircraft with a TACAN set can do A/A TACAN, what they can't do is provide both range and bearing, they can only derive range. Not even the KC-135 can give bearing in reality, the only tanker I know can from the top of my head is the KC-10.

Also the S-3 is presently out of regular service in the Navy, VX-30 has one or two for range surveillance and control, other than that, they have all been retired as of 2009.
