I'm still something of a novice with DCS World but can now start up the planes and fly them. I have used ME to create some very basic missions, mostly for the purpose of practicing navigation and simple target practice, but always take-off and land at deserted airfields. Is it possible to populate them with parked aircraft that don't all want to take-off? I have read the instruction manual and have placed various aircraft types at various parking and ramp locations, but they are never visible on the airfield when I load the mission. They only become visible if I set a start time for them in the ME, and then they start up and taxi to the runway. I accept I am probably making some very basic error, but any help that can be offered will be gratefully received - these airfields can be very lonely places.

Use aircraft from "static objects" menu and not from "airplane group" one. A couple of icons below the one you were clicking.

Put the airplanes down as their regular selves. (If you drop static aircraft on a parking area the ATC may have issues.) Check the box for Uncontrolled. For the big aircraft, limit the group to one plane, as two or more in the same group were rather frustrating to manage.

This Uncontrolled option will keep the plane at its parking slot. You could give it a flightpath. And you could give it a Triggered Action to Start. Then use an event to Start it and it should go on its way.

I have held a started aircraft in its parking slot by parking a jeep in front of it, and moving the jeep to release the plane; there were some trucks and a car in the same group -- you need to test to make sure the vehicles get out of the way.
