Screamadelica Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) Just a little question about saving input files. I made a few changes to the control settings for the 109 recently and when I clicked on save changes it shows the file for the FW 190 and other non input related files. I know that the input files are in the saved games folder but when I click on the 109 file it just opens to show the various different controller input files. Where can I find the correct file for saving the 109 and how can I select it to save the changes? I'm using DCS 1.2. Thanks, Scream. Edited December 29, 2015 by Screamadelica
Devrim Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 I don't think I understand you easily. Where's is "SAVE CHANGES" button? Are you talking about DCS World > Options > Controls Page? Screamadelica Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Yeah, sorry about the confusion. When I try and save changes in the DCS World > Options > Controls section for the 109 there is a drop down box to the left that prompts to Save As and lists the last aircraft I saved a profile for (the FW 190 ) plus, several other folders related to various other DCS World changes that are not control option related. How can I find the correct file path to the original saved 109 profile in order to save the changes for the new aircraft controls?
Devrim Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 My friend. I think it would be great, if you provide a screenshot about your problem. Because in Controls page, the only "Save", or "Save As" thing is "SAVE PROFILE AS" button I see. Please see the attachment. jimcarrel Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Click on the yellow folder at the top after you have clicked on "save profile as". Keep clicking on the folder icon and you will see that you are "descending" thru the file or folder structure. Just keep going until you descend to where you can see the list with all of the aircraft. (it can sometimes be a little fidgety to get the click on folder icon to work) then click on your aircraft selection, you will drill down thru, aircraft/input/joystick and finally the sim version or game version folder..... if you setting up for sim you pick the sim folder, don't forget to rename (or select the key you wish to overwrite) the file you are saving. When you go thru this process of saving, just remember it defaults to the last keyfile you worked on. 1 Win 10 64 bit Intel I-7 7700K 32GB Ram Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6gig

Screamadelica Posted January 1, 2016 Author Posted January 1, 2016 Thanks for everyones help. Sokol's screenshot is the page in question. I think what I'm actually trying to work out is - What is the correct file path to select when saving a profile? Is the correct file path for saving a control profile: c/users/name/savedgames/DCS/config/input/BF 109 K4/joystick? In that joystick file it list each different controller, should I just select the corresponding file for the control column that I'm saving the altered settings to and save over it? Or do I just give the Saved Profile a name like Sokol has done and just save it as he shows in the screenshot? Thanks, Scream.
Sokol1_br Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 (edited) In that joystick file it list each different controller, should I just select the corresponding file for the control column that I'm saving the altered settings to and save over it? For what I test you are saving the modifications done in the default file - probable the ones in Input folder inside game folder. The saved file is for device, e.g.the one done after modifications done for joystick A don't save the modifications done in keyboard and vice-versa. You can see this opening one of these *.diff files with Notepad++. The place for save can be any you want, as long as it is safe. :) Saving in Users....Saved Games folder, you can uninstall the game that this folder remain. I uninstall the 1.2 version and this folder still in place. The folder Bf109K, etc. in left side looks convenient, but is not. Why? Because this folder are inside game folder and not in Users, and maybe will be deleted if uninstall the game: print screen Edited January 1, 2016 by Sokol1_br
