In Cv NAV or Cm NAV on your HSI, the thin needle will indicate VOR/ILS bearing if the ILS frequency is well set and you are in range of the beacon.

 

If everything is well set you should have a course deviation needle and a glidescope deviation needle one the ADI. If not, it's probably a bug or a feature not yet implemented.

So what is the backup for an ILS approach if the HUD is not working ?

I don t see any glide path comming on the ADI ? ?

 

Well, in fact IRL the HUD is not used as a primary instrument for ILS approach (despite all its magic features).

Most often it the ADI used.

 

Haven't tried in DCS though...
