last1976 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Hi, tomorrow my new Pc is delivered to me, as much as I am exited, due to my low bandwidth im not looking forward to download another 80 GB of DCS 1.5 and DCS 2.0 Alpha. Is it possible to copy the files over and do a new install where the updater finds (searching for already downloaded files) the saved files ? I hope you guys know what I mean, I would appreciate some answers. Launcher is doing this anyway.
last1976 Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 As on a complete new system there is no 1.5 available respectively installed I have my doubts on your theory. i7-6700K / Msi Z170 Board / Kingston 32GB DDR4 / Msi GeForce GTX 980 4G / BQ STRAIGHT POWER 10 CM 700W / Fractal Define R5 Black / Alpenföhn "Brocken 2" / Samsung m2 980 Pro 1TB/ WD Blue 2TB / Windows 10 Pro
Buzzles Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Yes, you should be able to copy and paste the files over and have it be ok. Worst comes to worst, start a fresh install on your new machine, cancel it once it starts downloading, then paste the files in. Then you can run Update -update or update-repair and it'll only download/update what it needs to. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Kozmyk Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I had/still have 3 installs. I managed to migrate my \Config\Input files across both from 1.2 to 1.5b and from 1.5b to 2.0a with no adjustments The modules files I copied across to the relevant Mod folders but they wouldn't work until I went to Cmd: and ran DCS_Updater.exe Install *Mod Name* for each Module in the relevant \bin folder. When I did that, the Updater recognised my existing files and only downloaded/torrented the new files it needed to finish the job. hth OS:Win10 Home CPU:i7 3770K 3.5(@4.3GHz) COOLER:ZalmanCNPS10X-PERFORMA MOBO:GigabyteGA-Z77X-UD5H SSD#1:SamsungEVO850Pro 500GB SSD#2:SanDisk240GB HDD:2x Seagate2TB GFX:GigabyteGTX670 WF3 2GB OC1058MHz RAM:16GB 16000MHz DDR3 KEYB'Ds:Corsair K95/MS SidewinderX4 MOUSE:LogitechG700s MON:2x ASUS 24” ROUTER:ASUS RT-N66U DarkKnight INTERWEBS:Fibre152Mbps/12Mbps JOYSTICK:TM T16000m Modded THROTTLE:TM TWCS HEADTRACK:TrackIR5Pro
OldE24 Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 (edited) YES this would be simple with the hard drive out of the computer or transfering them to an external drive or USB stick. also config is stored in C:USERS:savedgames there will be A DCS folders for each of your games linked to the games via the dcs_variant file in your main dcs folder. when you coppy these folders over i would imagine you could run the command prompt in the bin folder of the respected installs and repair. refrence http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 Edited December 31, 2015 by OldE24 8700k@4.7 32GB ram, 1080TI hybrid SC2
