98abaile Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Personally I think the design is too big and cumbersome to begin with. It might be a great design for the real thing, but for a mouse nipple replacement, we really need something that is small light and offers better grip. Here's my idea:
hansangb Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Well, you could put a thinkpad replacement trackpoint covers on it. I'll try the mod and the trackpoint replacement. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Jateu Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Original seems big I agree. But then why did we all buy the hotas. In my opinion it's because it's acurate to the sim I fly. I like your ideal of mod 98abaile would be nice to see what you can produce.
98abaile Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I like your ideal of mod 98abaile would be nice to see what you can produce. Nothing unfortunately, I have no means or skills to do so.
Jateu Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Can I use your idea and see where it goes. I have a few spares. So I will cut one down and shape it to your design. If you don't mind.
Quantenpresbyterianer Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) I would like to thank Jateu for the parts he sent me (for free!). Awesome guys like him make this community so great. Find attached some pics of installed slew mod. Works quite good, no centering issues here. But as already mentioned, it is not that stable, because the resistance of the original sensor is still the same, of course. But nevertheless, one still has a significantly better control than with the original slew button. Thanks again Jateu. Jateu Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) Any time Timo. I'm glad it worked out for you. Do you still have a spare slew ? Do you fancy trying out 98abaile's idea I'm going to give it a go to compare. I will use one of my spares. I'm planning to cut the diameter down and keep the concave or bowl that the slew already has. I might even smooth it out and see how it feels. Is there any slack in the slew at all. Some have reported the resin version is loose on the mount? Thank you Timo once again for your pictures. James Edited January 25, 2016 by Jateu
Jateu Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Just tried to mod one of my slew to a smaller diameter. And it's been increadably tough the nylon is fighting back and hard. I will try again with another spare and back to you all asap.
