hollywoodvillain Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hi everyone, I hope someone can help with an issue I've been having recently. Every so often my cyclic is not being recognized in game. Displaying the "in game controls" indicator and windows joystick properties at the same time shows that there is indeed control input being recognized by my os, however completely absent in game controls. I would like to add that this does not occur in any other DCS modules, I currently own A10, FC3. Anyway, It seems to happen almost exclusively when I trim, especially when I hold the trim button down for a long period of time before release. Its been a while since I have flown BS2, so I cant comment on 1.2, but I know that prior to that I never had any problems like this. I have tried both an x-65 and a Warthog, and have gotten the same results. I doubt a track file would do any good, but I will try to make a vid if it helps. Maybe I've missed something in my absence? Thx for any tips

Maybe I've missed something in my absence? Thx for any tips I would be checking the OPTIONS > SPECIAL > KA-50 > CENTRAL POSTION TRIMMER MODE setting. I have always had mine unticked, being ticked means when you trim you have to put stick back into neutral position for a second before you get to have control again (sounds like your issue). Might be time to have a refresh read on how to trim properly, at least a couple of different ways of doing it. I wouldn't be holding trim in whilst manueveuring, that is just me.:book: Regards, Ian. hollywoodvillain Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Thanks bud. Thats exactly what the prob is. Maybe I do need to go back and re-learn the trimmer! I however do like having the central position trim mode selected, but I dont remember it not recognizing the joystick until I recenter it, but I guess its just been too long. BTW Ive always held trim until I get "on course" before I release it, I thought thats how most people fly, but you are suggesting this is not the proper way?
ShuRugal Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 . BTW Ive always held trim until I get "on course" before I release it, I thought thats how most people fly, but you are suggesting this is not the proper way? This is something which had been argued to death here. There are two main schools of thought: "press and hold" versus "press, release, repeat". There is ambiguous evidence available to support both as being real world standard practice. I, personally, prefer to press and hold, but in certain situations, I will press and release instead. Both method have advantages and disadvantages. Try both, and fly whichever suits you best. 1

That is how I have become most comfortable flying the KA-50, I have the central position trimmer checked, and I press and hold during my turns. You're having this problem most probably when you're busy/maneuvering/combat. I like to hold trim in during any major moves and then release trim - and joystick. If during the maneuver - you inadverdently release the trimmer (even for a ms) but still NOT release the joystick to center - you'll get the behavior you're seeing. If you see the JS not doing what you want - release it immediately to center and then continue.
