gazmonalpha Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Hi Do I have to have target software running when I start DCS to get all the joystick and throttle buttons to be recognised in the in game control Example..I want to assign the flap toggle switch in the F15c to the same as is used by the TM warthog throttle for A10c But when I try this nothing happens when I click the flap toggle switch forward or back when trying to assign it in the options/control section Thanks Gazmon System Specs, Core i7 950 OC 4.2Ghz, 1.5TB Hdd, MSI GTX 980 Ti, 24GB Ram, WIN 10 64 Bit, 1000w PSU ,Trackir5, Thrustmaster Warthog:)

You have 2 options, don't use target (the joystick and throttle will be seen as 2 separate controllers). Or - use target and configure the non working buttons to send keystrokes (make sure to send a pulse for switches that stay in position like the flaps switch). Option 1 works right out of the box for the A-10c, the throttle and stick are preconfigured in DCS
gazmonalpha Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 Thanks So what ur saying is that if I don't use target I will not see the flap toggle because that will not be mapped How do u mean a pulse how do I configure that? Is that done in target?/ System Specs, Core i7 950 OC 4.2Ghz, 1.5TB Hdd, MSI GTX 980 Ti, 24GB Ram, WIN 10 64 Bit, 1000w PSU ,Trackir5, Thrustmaster Warthog:)

Is that done in target?/ Yes, the flaps toggle is one the of the button that is not on the virtual controller. Here's how I configured the flaps on the SU-25T for example: // Flaps MapKey (&Throttle, FLAPU, PULSE+L_CTL+'f'); // Flaps up MapKey (&Throttle, FLAPM, PULSE+'f'); // Flaps toggle MapKey (&Throttle, FLAPD, PULSE+L_SHIFT+'f'); // Flaps landing Those flaps have 3 position, there is a shortcut for clean and full flaps positions and one shortcut to toggle flaps. Note that there is no real FLAPM button (it is the neutral position between the UP and DOWN buttons) but the target software emulates it.
gazmonalpha Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 thanks sorry for the all noob questions im still getting to grips with the warthog where do i place this code and where do i find the file please is there any resources i can find to explain the coding methods etc for the warthog much appreciated System Specs, Core i7 950 OC 4.2Ghz, 1.5TB Hdd, MSI GTX 980 Ti, 24GB Ram, WIN 10 64 Bit, 1000w PSU ,Trackir5, Thrustmaster Warthog:)
jcbak Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 You don't need to have TARGET running at all. I have used the WH for 2 years and have never used TARGET. It works just fine.....no complications. The A10C is mapped by default with the exception of the POV button on the joystick. I just map the other aircraft through DCS Options. No issues. dburne Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 ok thanks for your info But if i want to use toggles and buttons that are not mapped i need to know a little scripting yes Have a read through the TARGET manuals. There is the GUI manual which is good for first getting into using the program, I recommend starting out with Advanced GUI mode as it is a lot more one can do with it versus the basic mode. Then when you are really bored have a good read through the script editor manual, which is working with the code itself and it is the most powerful one can use for creating custom joystick profiles. I myself have used all, including setting my controls up within the DCS controller menu ( and it is how I have been doing it lately). Both have advantages and disadvantages. The DCS controller setup menu is pretty good in what it can do, but TARGET certainly opens up more possibilities for those that prefer that. I have used TARGET for a few years now and never mess with linking it up to starting the game. I launch TARGET , run the program, start my Track IR, then launch the game. You never link to the excutable? ok interesting as i have another thread on here regarding target and dcs, in short i did link to the excutable (or what i assumed was dcs exe) and when i tryed to start DCS it had modified `dll` FILES and i had to reinstall the game.. obviously maybe this was my problem? so just load it and leave the info out System Specs, Core i7 950 OC 4.2Ghz, 1.5TB Hdd, MSI GTX 980 Ti, 24GB Ram, WIN 10 64 Bit, 1000w PSU ,Trackir5, Thrustmaster Warthog:)

Leae the launching of the game to DCS. Start DCS as you normally would, just need to make sure your TARGET profile is running before launching DCS. Be aware with a TARGET profile running this creates a new "virtual" controller, so the first time you will probably need to go in and re-assign your axis assignments in DCS for the module ( running profile) you are flying. Are you using a profile you created or one someone else created? dburne Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 A profile someone else created and it was available on DCS website to download For f15c They may have parts of it customized for their individual setup as well. Shouldn't be too hard to identify the problem for any commands that do not appear to work though.
