DaveRindner Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Not sure why, but it is the most enjoyable and funnest to fly. Definitely a must have. Great job, Leathernecks! It is the most difficult to fight in (as it is outmatched) to gen 4 opponents, and least likely to survive. Its a challenge to learn to fly and fight in. But its just so damn fun. Not sure why though. Despite the hoopla, MIG-21PF was not the star of Red side during Vietnam War. Vietnam never got that many, and was reluctant to use them. The star of the Red star in Vietnam was Mig-17 & few 19s. F-8 Crusader utterly dominated air-air combat against Migs. But it held its own against F-4's, though I think that more tactics and payload. F-4 had greater thrust to weight, and greater acceleration, with only AA stores.
FeistyLemur Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I've taken a little break to let 1.5 get a little more work into it. That and I also have spent quite some time in the Black Shark. The 21 is sure looking good the last few days I've been flying it again. (I wish my landings were still looking as good cause those are sure rusty). It's still my favorite module despite my love for the Black Shark as well. It's fun I think because it's easy enough to learn but just hard enough to master that it makes it a fun challenge, I think it's a perfect introduction module to DCS, but then I'm biased because it was my introduction module to DCS. There aren't as many systems to overwhelm you like the A-10 for example. It really is like a flying AK-47. It's simple, straightforward, and has the Soviet beautiful kind of ugly to it. Being as fast and agile as it is doesn't hurt the fun factor either.
