mytai01 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 First, what are all the directions in the sim based on, magnetic or true? Second, is magnetic variation modeled accurately in the sim? For example, our ASOS reports wind direction in magnetic degrees, but when we make an ATIS we have to convert it into true degrees which just means subtracting 10 degrees off the magnetic degrees. Sryan Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) magnetic vs true is modelled. iirc the deviation is 6deg in georgia. on the kneeboard airport maps ( accesable on all planes, usually via RSHIFT-K or RCTRL-up) TN points straight up and MN deviates 6 degrees to the right. So I am assuming all maps have true north straight up and magnetic north on the offset. Edited February 14, 2016 by Sryan Check my F-15C guide
