Hi, is there a free map or testing range for the Su-25 or TP-51? If I look what I see, I may buy more.

Also, is there an more arcade-ish mode to help new players familiarize with the game? Thanks.

You meant the Su-25T, I suppose?

You can fly that and the TF-51D as free airplanes over Georgia, the free map of DCS World. But at the moment, the Georgia map is only available for (and included with) DCS 1.5

You can fly those aircraft over Nevada as well, but the Nevada map has to be purchased and only works within DCS 2.0 alpha at the moment.

Ok, thank you. Game seems pretty cool so far. Is there a more arcade-ish /simplified verison for new players?

After you download the DCS map, you can go into the settings menu and Set the planes to sim or game mode. game mode is basically the arcade mode that you are asking about.

The SU-25 is already simplified (IMO) in sim mode. The TFP-51 (in sim mode anyway) is set up pretty much like a real P-51. I have never used any module in game mode so I cannot speak to how they work in that mode. But you can definitely switch them to an easier mode.

tbh i dont understand arcade mode. its a whole different game.

dcs is the airplane systems. the airplane systems are dcs. when you replace the systems with arcademode avionics you are not playing dcs, and if you decide to switch back to sim avionics you find yourself back at where you started -- having to learn the systems

so why not learn? simply read the manuals and follow the directions on the tutorials.

maybe that's asking too much?????

I'm not looking for an arcade mode. I meant so say I was looking for a simplified mode to ease into the game. Its hard for starters to focus on one aspect of the plane without worrying about another. But I do plan on getting into sim mode eventually.

But thanks Zimmerdylan for the answer.

Just fiddle with settings. A-10C and Ka-50 have arcade mode, and I truly recomend those modules for purchase. For a helicopter, that is a really nice practice to get you familiar a bit with physics of flying. For TF-51 you have some extra options in settings to make your life easier at the beginning. Su-25T used to be a part of Flaming Cliffs and is essentially modeled the same as all FC3 planes. Quite simplified, compared to stand-alone "hardcore" simulator modules, but it has an excellent flight and ground handling model, and she's very rewarding if you're interested in ground-pounding, either that would be close air support, ground attack, pinpoint strike or SEAD (the easiest, in my opinion; btw, currently she is the only truly SEAD capable human controlled plane). You have a plethora of tutorials, written, illustrated or youtube video for most things that you can think of or require. Just watch and rehearse later weapon employment of a Su-25T and you'll be hooked ;) .
