SuperKungFu Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Some of you may not notice it but it’s pretty hard to make the signal input for the X-52 to be very precise (especially the positive pitch angle). This is crucial if you want to make small adjustment to the flight such as mid-air refueling or flying in formation. I tested this out on two different X-52 and it both shows the same thing so it’s not just mine. You can test it out for yourself, just open up your X-52 settings in your control panel so you can see the signal input. Then very gently push the joystick back. You can practically wiggle it with one finger and the cross for the signal input remains the same. I believe the problem is with the design; the front portion on the joystick is too heavy that’s why it kinda leans forward. Here’s a few picture of what I mean I placed a yellow tip on both the joystick and the background to show the difference. Even with the 10+ degree of movement, there’s no signal input. So when you are trying to fly a very precise formation or trying to hit the basket for mid-air refueling, it gets a little bit hard because you are pulling up more than you should. I was wondering if you guys have any alternatives or work around for this, we had that work around by adding the washer thing in between the springs to increase the tension, i was wondering if there was something simliar for this. 169th_Dredd Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I have an X52 as well. The freeplay in the stick like you've mentioned did plague my mind at first, but after use I sort of mentally dismissed it. Small movement precision looks like we cant exactly have unless I guess the stick is strengthened at the point of free movement. I think the main point of the free movement is to compensate for the XY sensors&magnets they they have used for close precision and light feel. My first thoughts of the stick when I got it was a quick disbelief at how much play was in the stick, compared to the previous X45. It sort of still plagues me. Possibly it was a design that was needed, will need to check Saitek forums. There are pics available of each part of the stick in a dismantle process. CH HOTAS is on my 'to buy list' :) ---= 169th Panthers -Flt Lt.- =--- http://www.169thpanthers.com.au AMD64 S939 3700 | 2GB Corsair DDR500 | 21" CRT ATI Radeon X800Pro | 2x36GB WD Raptors | SB Audigy TIR3 | TM-868 | X52 | CH Pedals | Creative 5.1 Spkrs
Guest Cali Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Sorry for my reply, but I'm sure someone in these forums can help you out.
SuperKungFu Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 yea i know CH products are the best but i can't exactly convince my parents to let me dish out that type of money for it. So for the price the X-52 is pretty good, its just not as precise as CH. I don't think anyone has a solution to this because the problem is with the hardware, but I'm just throwing this question out there in hopes someone did something radical that fixed it. zaelu Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I have a better test for you SuperKungFu, go to X52 control panel (or IL-2 input settings or Lomac imput testing) and try to make with the X-52 a circle in the midle of the testing square... very frustrating. The fact that the stick seams very loose has as cause the twisty feature, the fact that they used joints made from plastic on metal and "cheap" inside base joints. Personaly I have quit blaming my self for buying the stick ( I had a X-45 old that was doing quite well its job after few repairs), I don't like CH, I like Cougar with mods... I had put my hands on a Cougar and I cried. But is too expensive. In the end, X52 is a good stick with big minuses... so big that worth killing for :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
A.S Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Here we go Sounds like one of the magnets in the slider bars is magnified out...maybe 10° is much ..to much for x52 but if u have pitch precision probs try this -- psssssssst u will love it keep one button pressed all time... i clipped ond of the mfd buttons down and look how amazing precise then x-52 is :joystick: And never forget that there are bugged version out there doesnt matter what serial on it....i have 3 of them now..know what i am talking bout. But if it is a good one it should work amazing precicse enuf...i mean refueling or sealevel 2m without any curves in not a prob at all... PS: Yes it was me discovering the joyrange things also [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
