Pineapple Pete Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Hi All, I finally flew a descent (I didn't get shot down and I killed the Mig) home made mission which I saved to a track file. While trying to learn the ins and outs of what I could do with the track I emailed it to myself and tried to replay it from from the email attachment. Windows 7 can't replay the file for me. Does anyone know how to do this? I have a friend who loves airplanes but doesn't own DCS and I am trying to get his interest up. Thanks It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
cichlidfan Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 You need DCS to play them. They are not a movie of any kind but rather a recording of what controls were used and the actions taken during the flight. If your friend has a capable machine, he can just install DCS World, since it is free. Granted, it is a rather large download/installation for a video replay. There is also the ever present issue of tracks not always playing back the way the flight actually occurred. You could also record the track replay, with something like FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com) and send that file to him (or even just upload it to YouTube and send him the link). ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
Pineapple Pete Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Thanks for the input. I did try uploading to youtube but it didn't like .trk file either. I'll give it another go today as I almost always have to try something three or four times to get it right when it comes to computers. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
dabomb Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) I did try uploading to youtube but it didn't like .trk file either. I'll give it another go today as I almost always have to try something three or four times to get it right when it comes to computers. As has already been stated, the *only* thing that can play those .trk files is DCS World. The .trk is NOT a video format (like mpeg, avi, mkv, etc). If you want your friend to be able to watch your .trk, he will have to install DCS World on his computer, or (as also suggested above) you will have to record the .trk on your computer with software that will save it in a compatible video format. Pineapple Pete Posted February 20, 2016 Author Posted February 20, 2016 Hey thanks dabomb. I am currently trying to figure out how to do just that. It is always best to not fly too fast or fly too slow. So I fly half fast. :D
SilentGun Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Hey thanks dabomb. I am currently trying to figure out how to do just that. Go into DCS, and in the main menu there is a replay option. choose the track you saved and open it just like you would if you were starting a mission in DCS. Then you can use an external recording software to record it (FRAPS, OBS etc...) Hope that helps. Link to my Imgur screenshots and motto http://imgur.com/a/Gt7dF One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales... :)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)
