Threads keep disappearing, it's like some goverment conspiracy over here. Come on, I just want to SEE (not write in or edit) the thread that was dedicated to me, with the parachutes and all. Anyway, if this will be deleted again, I'll go and make a thread on how great lomac is and how much F4 sucks or something.

peace out.

Why the hostile attitude? Now that everything outside has gone cold, everybody is pissed off, jeesh. And I was thinking high temperatures had a negative effect on people's moods.

Oh well, this will be deleted anyway.

Its been 102 to 104 here for weeks. But, OAT, compared to where I'm usually working, actually feels pretty nice. Two weeks ago, I think I found a new record in cabin temp...158 in a Cessna 425 on the ramp. It actually hurt to breathe, the air was that friggin' hot.

Wow, that gives new meaning to the term 'hot ship'! I used to fly a 425 (a 1, with the stock motors, -114's I think? -117's?, not sure anymore. I remember there was a -135 engine mod that upped things quite considerably!), nice little pocket rocket. But not one that hot - The panel must have just about been melting! The poor little aircon would never have coped!

Nah...the panel, in those situations, can easily reach 400 without even batting an eyelash (lots of burn scars on my fingers, hands, and arms to show for that)...that's one of many reasons the air in the pit becomes so hot. AC? What AC? I'm usually working inside them after they have been baking in the sun for a few hours, without the engines running...so there's no AC available. Yes...those recent FAA job openings are looking mighty tempting right about now. :D

In Kyiv I visited the national aviation museum, after having a chat with ther man on guard duty, he was a real military transport pilot, had about 600 hours on the Mi-8 and was put on guard duty because his unit was disbanded due to cost savings, so you have a young pilot with experience guarding museum exponants in damn hot weather. He, and some other woman, guess military too, as they all are there, nobody is willing to work for $150 a month in such bad conditions. I mean, the museum entrance looks good (good to our, western standards), but the little booth lacks an a/c and there are no facilities at all, because all the little restaurants/snackbars went away after suffering too much profit loss. This is well reflected when looking at the parking lot, which is quite small for a museum (about 40 cars cap.), but to my surprise, there was only one car on it.

They told me that they had an average of 20 visitors per day, most of them foreigners (Frenchmen, Dutch freaks, Brits, Americans, Germans and one Chinese guy, that photographed every weapon in detail, in order to sell the photos in China for money, as such things are heavily classified in China. I surely hope the Chinese got hold of him, and put him in a cell for 5 years for thinking about selling his pictures taken in a museum, what a freak), the only thing that provided any kind of drinks, was some coffee/tee machine. Now, figure that, and the fact that it was 38 C* outside, in the shade. The guards were very happy when we came back, and offered them cold drinks.

Anyway, it was freaking hot outside, but, we also vidited the mi-26T, mi-8 and the il-62 that were accessible for public. Well, the il-62 was hot inside, but bearable, because the mid emergency doors were open. The mi-26T was a couple of degrees hotter, but the thing is freaking huge from inside, I could swear I was standing in a medium transport aircraft, and not a chopper. My father, who served in the army (flew mi-8s) said that they always flew the mi-26 with an army truck inside (I forgot which one, but it had some kind of square top and extended back cabin) because otherwise the thing would be unlandable due to the vast amounts of lift it created. He also told the mi-6 had the nickname the 'Cow' as it was extremely difficult to handle, and it couldn't take off vertically with a full fuel load. The funny thing was that when we went outside, the guards, and some other enlisted personnel, were talking about helicopters, and when we were nearby, they said: 'yeah, they called it the cow, because of the terrible handling'. :D

Ok, the mi-8, imagine a sauna without steam and hot Swedish girls? In that thing, there were some windows open, but, becasue of the green/yellow colour scheme, the thing heated up quite well. The mi-8 looked so small compared it when I was a little kid, but was big enough for a chopper, although I couldn't stand it it. This mi-8 was flightworthy, and had all the engines/systems still installed, and was even fueled up, so technically, I would be able to take-off and fly away :p. I've also seen the il-86 prototype, with the escape hatch left of the cockpit. And, I photographed the K-36V (Yak-38 seat) from the outside, with some nice details, like ballistic lines and the canopy breakers. It doesn't have MDC linings, so when you eject automatically (during hover), you better hope the fracture line calculations were right, and no propagation is needed by your head :p.

Oh, I also have a photo of a KAB-9000 (yes, that thing is the size of a camper), and some su-25 wing parts, su-25 gears, and all the wing hardpoints. Oh, the r-60M, which is cut open, as is the R-27R, and a whole R-73. from all the known angles are also in my photo collection, the r-27 and r-73 are hanging on the Ukrainian Falcons Mig-29S, in its unrestored state (paint is starting to peel off).

Can somebody point me out a site, where I can upload them in full quality (about 1mb a piece) and 50 or more at a time (but not photobucket)?
