tommytank Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Recently upgraded my graphics card and PSU. Noticed that the Graphics card remains powered after the PC has shutdown. Is this normal? PSU is Corsair RM850. Card is Asus R9 390X Strix.
EDT Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Mine does that too, have same card. It's the white light right? Even my motherboard (Asus maximus hero VIII) stays lighted when shut off. Asus Maximus Hero VIII - 6700K @4.7GHz cooled by a Fractal Design Kelvin S36 - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8GB - 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM - Samsung 850 Pro 240GB SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD - WD RED 3 TB HDD - TM Warthog HOTAS - VPC T-50 stick and base - Baur BRD-F1 rudder pedals - Oculus rift CV1
NeilWillis Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 You do realise that unless you power down the system at the PSU, it does remain powered up don't you? Usually there is a switch close to the power socket. That isolates the entire power supply.
SkateZilla Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 My GPUs have a blinkin stand by light as well as my Motherboard, which has a blinking standby light as well as backlit powe on and reset buttons on the lower corner, I dont hibernate, my system idles 24/7 or i choose shutdown. for GPUs, there maybe a bios option for remote power upnor wake up commands via PCIe etc Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Buzzles Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Modern PC's are never truly "off" unless you turn the power off at the mains/psu switch. So, yes, entirely usual. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Demon_ Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) The +5v standby is always on. To allow the motherboard to control the power supply. Edited February 27, 2016 by Demon_ Attache ta tuque avec d'la broche.
