Kev2go Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) Pierre Sprey is all about the gun as well. It's really funny how you're trying to sling personal insults at me, but you're just flat out not getting it :) Still, this doesn't have anything to do with Russian 4th gen DCS fighters. LOl ok bud. im not all about the gun, only about the gun remaining as a backup, just in case. Id make more sense to remove current generation planes, due to vastly improved missile and avionics tech, but IT still hasn't been done for majority of aircraft. The gun continues to be present, and its not worth risking removing it. IF it aint broke, don't fix it. even the F22 the most advanced plane in the USAF and one that is centered around stealth and BVR still had guns incorporated into the air frame. you dont want to risk history repeating itself or pilots having 0 self defense option if the run out of missiles, are RTB and come across a enemy fighter or in a WVR scnario where its too close for a missile. those would represetn a fery few % of cases, but hoenstly when it comes to providing all you can to the military service people, and if it means a pilot gets home even in that 1-2% of cases then its good enough. its no joke, when someones life is on the line, because of a political clerk made a political choice for promotion or the designer overlooked some features. just like most infantrymen have a Pistol and a combat knife alongside to thier primary service rifle, to cover all possible scenarios and have backups for self defense. Chrinik Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 first of all, I want to say that MiG-31 and MiG-27 are not exclusively russian planes. They were designed and created in USSR, consisting of 15 present day countries. So it is wrong and disparagingly concerning other 14 countries to say that it was only russian merit... Uhm...The Mikoyan-Gurewitsch plants are all in russian territory, staffed by russians, and even the engines and almost all individual parts had been manufactured in russia. That Russia was Boss of the USSR doesn´t mean every soviet invention was a collective effort of the mighty people of USSR....:noexpression: It´s more russian then the M1 Abrams is american, who´s gun is german and who´s armor is british. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] GCI: "Control to SEAD: Enemy SAM site 190 for 30, cleared to engage" Striker: "Copy, say Altitude?" GCI: "....Deck....it´s a SAM site..." Striker: "Oh...." Fighter: "Yeah, those pesky russian build, baloon based SAMs." -Red-Lyfe Best way to troll DCS community, make an F-16A, see how dedicated the fans really are
carss Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I'd love to see an Su-30 mod, like the M2, MKI, SM or MKM which is an export variant of the Su-30, can be used for online cockpit sharing plus the SM/MKI/MKM has canards and thrust vectoring and a combo of other radars and weapons, which would be cool IMO! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick: ED pls gib A-4 and F-4
