Nerd1000 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 The range ring on the ASP sight pipper seems to be broken. The Pipper moves around as you'd expect for different ranges, however changing the range setting doesn't change the size of the range ring. Similarly the wingspan setting isn't working either. The range ring doesn't change size until you move the wingspan setting to more than 10m.
BadHabit Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 In short. If set to gun/shooting/auto the wingspan will start scaling above 18m , else u can use manual mode but still looks broken. some1 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) This is correct, the piper can't shrink below certain size. That being said, the minimum size is 10-20% too big. The minimum size should be 1 degree 15 minutes, which according to this calculator (http://www.1728.org/angsize.htm) is the angular size of 40 meter object at 1.8 kilometer distance. Here's how C-130 (40 meter wingspan) looks like from 1.8 kilometer in DCS: Edited March 13, 2016 by some1 1 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

Yes, and adjusting the range/TDC setting doesn't resize the pipper either. As a result it is now impossible to use the gyro gunsight without a radar lock.

CoBlue Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Latest update. The bombing pipper is very strange? to low down on the hud, even in "unrealistic" ASP CCIP mode, forcing you to dive bomb at steep angles. Can LN comment on it, what have you done? how to bomb now? i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.
BadHabit Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Use CC solutions rather than Gyro. Do dive bombing runs play with your payload delivery, practice with it. You may also use manual asp settings, even tho we don't have a table for the weapons you can repeat on practise same types. I use for bombing the 4x100 fab and find it pretty easy to bomb. Also bare in mind that the bis is not and never meant to be a fighter bomber aircraft. It uses same tatctics as WWII planes. BadHabit Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 You realise it's just a mechanical pipper and not a computer right? The pipper works almost I'm not telling it's flawlessly simulated as it should Mig-21 Headbutter "These are not the bugs you are looking for..":pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My YouTube channel SPECS -AMD FX8370 8 Core Processor 4.2 ghz -GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P -GTX 1050 TI Windforce 4g -16 GB RAM -Saitek X 52 -FaceNOIRtrack - 3 point clip Red Led
Gadnief Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I have still the same problem. The range ring is always at the same size. Is there a fix or workaround for that? Not just for bombing but also Ait to Air
Frederf Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 The ASP is quite far from working properly. For example to set the range manually you have to set the auto-manual switch to auto. Manual is currently how to use automatic range via radar. It's backward. However if you set a large span like 50 or 60m and change the range manually you will see the ring get bigger or smaller but not in the mathematically correct way (22m span should reach minimum size at 1000m or more). If you do the arithmetic you find that the ring isn't the proper size given the span/range quite often. In certain modes of the ASP you're supposed to set the diamond size on the scale and it doesn't change (with changes in range), other times you set the span and it does. That's why it's the dual meters-mils scale. And yet other times you just set it to 70m and read the resulting mills size off the transparent scale on top as you adjust the range needle.
