Bazooka Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Pretty interesting concept and certainly worth a few dollars and a few hours to see what I can do with it when it comes to a homebrew stick for the Mustang pit!
SparrowHawk003 Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Edtracker is good. I used one for my cyclic for about a month. However, I did not discover until too late that the mini-usb connector on the pcb is very weakly connected and needs to be really beefed up. Mine snapped clean off after a inking move of the stick. I was going to replace it, but decided on Hall sensors instead. If you are using Edtrackers, they are great technologically, but weak structurally. You need to add a dollop of epoxy over that connector, without getting any in the connector itself. Tried out a quick a dirty cyclic solution with the ed-tracker and works very smoothly. the better your equipment the easier its to fly the Helicopters. Unbelievable what a change in fps made and now, the controls so much smoother than my old Microsoft pro 3. thanks for the hints regarding the usb connector. will make sure its a good fit and tied down. Bazooka Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Have you any updates to your project....am seriously considering this route for both stick and rudder pedals
SparrowHawk003 Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Hi All, I now have all my helicopter controls made up to use an Edtracker to measure the motion, my cyclic (as shown in this thread, my collective, my rudder pedals (easiest one to set up) and not to forget one for ACTUAL Head tracking! They all work very well on their own, and measure the movement really well, very smoothly and with a geat deal of resolution. certainly makes flying easier! My controls are bad either, inspired by a number of ideas in this and previous threads... However........ managing these 4 edtrackers and DCS's recognition of them is a bit of a Edtracker shuffle! Sometimes the controls are mixed up, so my headphones control the collective and the the pedals the cyclic! Still looking for a workaround for this... any suggestions?" Best, Mick
BlacleyCole Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Now the expensive way to go would be a vkb gf2 gimbal but it would be great and smooth plus by swapping the springs and cams you can customize the feel. Echo179 Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 Can you show some pictures of the collective and pedals? I'm definitely interested in this concept. Dedicated helicopter controls are stupid expensive
