Hoggorm Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Hi, Recently I upgraded to Windows 10. Before doing so I made a backup of the Input folder inside C:\Users\\Saved Games\DCS\Config After upgrading I reinstalled DCS 1.5 and wanted to import my settings however this does not appear to be possible... After copying the Input folder to the C:\Users\\Saved Games\DCS\Config folder and opening DCS I realize that the default settings remain... Have I done something wrong? Any ideas how I can fix this?

After copying the Input folder to the C:\Users\\Saved Games\DCS\Config folder and opening DCS I realize that the default settings remain... Have I done something wrong? Any ideas how I can fix this? the lua's file names (not the keyboard) there's a large number that Hardware ID's the device with the Hardware USB port like mine warthog Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {F4954FA0-7B0F-11e5-8004-444553540000}.diff.lua the number individualises the device (so you can have multiple same devices) {F4954FA0-7B0F-11e5-8004-444553540000} When upgrading these numbers get reassigned you will have to compare with a backup of your older {USBIDnumber} rename, done (if this is the problem) so, your 'NEW' <joystick>{NewUSBIDnumber}.diff.lua < won't import form old) compare file name you 'OLD' <joystick>{OldUSBIDnumber}.diff.lua change name or rather make copy in OLD directory to New NAME {NewUSBIDnumber} now you can import (you hope) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Hoggorm Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 I see... Thank you for the help. Since I do not know the new USBIDNumber I guess I'm lost?
majapahit Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I see... Thank you for the help. Since I do not know the new USBIDNumber I guess I'm lost? I better read your first post now you did NOT import (as how DCS wants it) you merely copied directories form a backup (as i read it) the same problem arises that the {USBIDnumber} is wrong when you start DCS and the {USBIDnumber} doesnt match NEW Hardware ID's DCS will simply create NEW DEFAULT for found devises so 1. you copied old files into new dir or 2. you REPLACED new dir with old dir after a DCS start with NEW defaults not showing OLD bindings there probably are 2 of each device in the SAVED GAMES .. Config Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {<IDnumber.win10>}.diff.lua with new DATE Joystick - HOTAS Warthog {<IDnumber.winOld>}.diff.lua with old DATE the NEWDATE will be the NEW Default so go in DCS into CONFIG goto CONTROLS SELECT a COLUMN like in my case <Joystick - HOTAS Warthog> hit LOAD PROFILE a browser pops up CHK if the PATH of the BROWSER points correctly at your ne install CHK if browser SORTS on FILE (name) you PROB see DOUBLE entries now per device with diff {<IDnumber >} now point at the OLDER FILE et voila device imported, goto next device *you still have to re-assign MODIFIERS if used in OLD file *the MODIFIER name needs EXACT same NAME (if changed) as in OLD Bindings **MAYBE you need to reassign AXIS TUNE these get reset (somtimes?) | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |

This fixed it for me. I've always just saved the Input folder and replaced it when needed. This has never been a problem until I installed Windows 10, so I just could not figure out why my usual method did not work..! Thank you again.
