enza Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Loving the campaign. I am learning a TON about the A-10 and useful tactics. Unless I'm missing something, the 2x GBU-38s (JDAMS) that are loaded on this mission are essentially useless since our primary targets, the IFV BMPs, are moving. Either a couple more AGM-65Ds or LGBs seems more appropriate. No? Since this mission is a hot-start on the runway, you don't have the option of changing the loadout prior to departure. --Enza (aka Waxer)
Yurgon Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I had similar feedback for an earlier mission and was told that part of the evaluation of a flight lead is that he should adjust the loadouts if he deems it necessary. I haven't tried it in the campaign, but normally you can open the Mission Planner from the briefing screen, pick your aircraft, and change the loadout there. Or if you're quick, change it as soon as you sit in the jet and then reload the DSMS during ingress (or is this an airstart mission? Haven't progressed that far yet).
enza Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Thanks Yurgon. Not sure how I've missed the "Mission Planner" option for all this time but now I get it. Mission 9 starts on the runway, ready for departure. --Enza
Steve Davies Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Yurgon is correct. 'Weaponeering', or selecting the correct weapons to achieve the desired effects against the target, is the flight lead's responsibility. I don't think I have ever flown a campaign mission where I did not optimise my loadout in the ME. Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
