B2Blain Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I noticed that Gaming 3 and Gaming 5 systems from Gigabyte come with onboard graphics chips the run at pretty high resolutions. System specs for DCS works recommends a video card. Is there a reason why you cannot use the onboard video on the motherboard? I would like something to tide me over until the new Nvidia cards come out. Thanks, Blain
Hadwell Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 a 6700K cpus igp is about as good as a GTS250, and roughly the same for the amd chips, there are exceptions, some games run better than others, but in general, igps are about as good as a 50-70$ discrete videocard. fixen Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The graphics chip is actually in the intel CPU and not on the motherboard. These chips will not run DCS at acceptable framerates. The fact that it can output 4k does not mean it can process intensive 3d environments.
BitMaster Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I would get one with at least 4GB, Nvidia GPU and 200€ or above. 970 or better in other words Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

If you want something to tide you over, how about looking for a second-hand GTX 670 or something? They can be had for reasonable money now, and runs DCS fine albeit not at highest settings. System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use
HawkDCS Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Onboard video is not going to run DCS properly. As others have said buy something like a used 970 or 780 for now until Pascal comes out. Rig: 5960X @ 4.5GHZ 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4 Titan XP Dell 3415W 21:9 Thrustmaster Warthog
