Does anybody knows how and why tgp goes under inr from time to time? Is it necessary simply to push tms up?

Thanks!

It may be because you press TMS AFT short. You can revert to AREA or POINT track mode by pressing TMS FWD short.

If the TGP into INR-A or INR-P its because you were in AREA or POINT track mode but the TGP got masked i.e. cannot see the terrain any more. By going into INR-A/INR-P it will try to keep looking at the same terrain even though it cannot see it. Once TGP can see terrain again it should revert into AREA or POINT track mode depending of the mode it was previously in.

It's also worth noting that the TGP image might be spot-on when it shows INR.

The thing is, the TGP consists of several sensors, and while the imaging or IR sensor might have perfect line of sight with the target, some other sensor might be blocked because it sits in a slightly different place in the head of the targeting pod. AFAIK you'll always get the INR indication whenever any of the TGP sensors doesn't have line of sight, which means that following targets in point track mode won't work (but if a previously tracked target gets lost because of masking, the TGP will try its best to anticipate the target's movement as long as you don't slew it), and illuminating the target with laser or infrared won't work either.

By the way, INR stands for "Inertial" if I'm not mistaken.
