frogger Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 was originally going to do the f18 but after alot of thought i found i enjoy flying the L39 and it is supported across a few sims to a high level. in dcs the L39 control options are quite impressive and something i think every devoloper should look at and aim for. anyway today while working on another project i had to wait for some paint to dry so i used some scrap wood to try out an idea with a car cv joint boot and also using a motorcycle brake lever with a game pad stick i hooked up a great little L39 style stick. ive had many expensive sticks before and i always find they are very similar when it comes to the stiffness. the only one i truely enjoyed was an old thrustmaster that had a rubber boot similar to thing but not as stiff. this stick doesnt have a great amount of movement but feels great.
Einherjer Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 The brake on the stick is really useful, have built one also a few weeks ago
Mr_Burns Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 What does it do, stop the chair wheels? Serious, is the cable moving something?
craig_sez Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Its the clutch for shifting into after burn mode..lol The "SCALES" of aeronautical performance will weigh heavily on your next move..
frogger Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 cable pulls an arm on a potentiometer id guess.
Einherjer Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) L39 pit Yes it moves a potentiometer - it's a very precise axis now for the wheelbrakes. Edited April 23, 2016 by Einherjer
frogger Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 and much easier then building toe brakes on a rudder
Einherjer Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) L39 pit Absolutely, my rudder pedals are self made too, and I had planned toe brakes, but I like the Russian style of braking ;) and it's always good to have an additional axis Edited April 23, 2016 by Einherjer
Mr_Burns Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Love it, and the elastic pulls it back to central! Love this forum.
Cripple Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Nice work with the brakes. Doing the same for my spit. My *new* AV-8B sim-pit build thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3901589 The old Spitfire sim-pit build thread circa '16/17: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143452
