Gripes Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Also, on top of the modeling problems we have the network lag and people doing all kinds of things to induce lag in order to spoof missiles in MP. PrtSc comes to mind and God knows what else... I`m not that good in "lag ECM". I`ve watched my target box jump up and down as soon I launched a missile...
GGTharos Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 A missile launch actually causes a greater amount of traffic, so someone with a poor connection (or if your own connection is poor) may legitimaly lag ... or you might. PrtSc will be out the window once more people get PCI-X boards and cards ... no need to stop the game to take the shot at that point, IIRC. I might be wrong though. nscode Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Yes... just make people buy more hardware instead of correcting a simple bug :music_whistling: Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
GGTharos Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 My understanding is that the issue rests in image transfer from AGP to RAM, where PCI-X does not have this issue. Correct me if I'm wrong. ARM505 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Is the argument here not actually missile *reliability* (ie some don't work at all IRL compared to all of them working in LOMAC) vs missile *effectiveness* (ie they don't guide/fuse properly in LOMAC compared to RL)? We don't have seperate sliders for those two parameters of course.
Guest Cali Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Good point. I can remember a campaign that I D/L'ed from the Community (I think it was called A-10 Spec Ops?), it had some failures set plus some bad weather. Never seen any others that use failures. Random failures would be nice. All missions I have played in, aircraft never have a single problem, which is UNHEARD OF. Jets have problems all the time, before they launch out, while in the air on the way to the mission, or coming back. When I make missions I always have random failures. That only adds to the realism to the game. And makes it a bit interresting when your heading back to land on the carrier and your HUD goes out.
