jasonstory44 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Hi guys, was hoping I could pick you brains on a problem I'm running into setting up my new pit. I recently built a new rig with an Asus X 99 Extreme. I believe it has 13 USB 3.1 ports. This sounds great but in reality I can't use anywhere near all of them before I get a USB resource shortage error and no further USB inputs will be recognized. I've tried all different combinations of setups and USB extensions with no luck. Ironically on my old rig with only USB 2.0, I could connect many more peripherals. I currently have connected my TM warthog stick and throttle, saitek combat rudders, steel series M800 keyboard, corsair gaming mouse, G13 for views, Track IR, my external sound card, and the following saitek panels using Flightpanels (multi switch, 3 radio stacks and BIP). I know that's a lot to begin with but I was hoping to add... My TPM saitek panel, my autopilot saitek panel but most importantly... My 2 F-16 OSBs and my 2 Lilliput 8 inch USB monitors for MFCDs. On my old rig with USB 2.0 I could do this. I even tried adding the PCI express 2 port USB 3.1 card but it didn't really help so I removed it. Any thoughts from any of you pit gurus? My long term goal is to build my own panels and use bios but this was my programming jumping off point. Thanks in advance. Scarecrow Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 What kind of PSU do you have. Maybe you're running out of power? :)
jasonstory44 Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 Think it's like 1000 watts Win 10 Pro, Intel i9 9900k overclocked to 5.1 (water cooled), 64 gb Corsair Dominator platinum RAM (3444 MHz) Titan RTX overclocked and water cooled 1.1 TB SSD 2 TB M.2 SSD TM Warthog Stick and throttle MFG Crosswinds Reverb VR Buttkicker LFE, SimShaker, Jetseat. Scarecrow Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Could you try using a powered usb hub? http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro-surfdevice/not-enough-usb-controller-resources-error/f2078f35-fcfb-412f-bb03-583e40ca8aed?auth=1 Sounds like it might be this ^:)
jasonstory44 Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 Hmm, I'd love to think this was the problem scarecrow but I fear it isn't. I have a powered UBS port plugged into one of my motherboard 3.1 plugs. I believe the extension may be a USB 2.0 though. It has many open ports and I can't add anything to it or I get the same message. I will try picking up another Powered USB supply (3.1) and see if its the answer....Really hope it is. I'll keep you posted....Thanks for the suggestions....Keep em coming please Win 10 Pro, Intel i9 9900k overclocked to 5.1 (water cooled), 64 gb Corsair Dominator platinum RAM (3444 MHz) Titan RTX overclocked and water cooled 1.1 TB SSD 2 TB M.2 SSD TM Warthog Stick and throttle MFG Crosswinds Reverb VR Buttkicker LFE, SimShaker, Jetseat. hansangb Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 That's really odd. Could be a USB 3x thing though. On my system, I have Bose speakers, TM stick, throttle, 2 MFDs, Komodo cyclic, collective, two Lilliput USB monitors (two USB connections each), keyboard/mouse and I had GP-WIZ40 as well as Phidgets all connected with no issues. But I did buy a four port USB 2.0 along with 7 port Amazon Basic USB 2.0 hub for my TM use. And until recently, TrackIR and Rift DK2. So that' what? 14 USB devices? I have a 1200 watt supply, and have had zero issues. If you have a USB 2.0 card lying around, you may want to give that a shot. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
jasonstory44 Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 I really hope adding a powered USB port and hooking it into my motherboard is the answer....can anyone think of a reason where I'd be better off going with a 2.0 rather than a 3.0 powered port? Any chance its more a speed or data overload thing for the MB? hansangb Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Well, there was a time with TM where 3.0 gave it problems. And TM and Lililputs are 2.0 only, so why bother with 3.0? I got the Amazon basic 7 port hub for that reason. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
jasonstory44 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Just and FYI...believe I found a SOLUTION. Disabling XHCI in Bios and running all ports as a USB 2.0 seems to have worked.
