djkling Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Ok so I think I understood this once and I'm working on my private pilot and just can't wrap my head around it... What is the difference and use of TO-FROM vs TO-TO navigation?
Apache600 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 (edited) It depends on your orientation to the station, and what radial you have selected on your NAV. FROM = the radial you are on. Radials off of a VOR are always FROM. To get a TO - FROM indication, you should be flying away from the VOR, and if the VSI is centered (and matches your heading) it should read FROM. Flying TO should pick up the outbound reciprocal radial. If i am heading 090, and my NAV is set for 090, and the station is in front of me. It should read TO. When I pass over the station and keep flying 090, it'll switch to FROM. In that same scenario, if i want it to read FROM while i'm flying towards the station on a 090 heading, I should have my NAV set at 270 (you'll get reverse sensing though on your needle) If that's as clear as mud, just google it :) Edited May 18, 2016 by Apache600 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The Museum Relic Campaign: --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=164322 Community Missions (SP & MP) --> https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=205546
djkling Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 Maybe I was confused because in my PP lessons it's just TO or FROM but on here it's TO-TO or TO-FROM
