I know this is probably a very stupid question, but what does the CA stand for in this campaign? How does this differ from the non CA one? Thanks.

It means "with the Combined Arms module."

Ahh okay. Since I don't have Combined Arms, do I play the mission that does not have CA?

Yes. The CA option is for those that have that module and want to control the ground forces as I understand it.

You can also play the CA version without having the CA module, as I did, for example.

AFAIK the CA version, as it is somewhat newer, has some small bugfixes but I'm not sure on that.

In the CA version you have the ability, if you own CA, to also switch to ground units. But you can play the whole campaign without doing so.

So if you switch from your plane to ground units will that not let your plane without control ? How can this work for practical purposes ?

As I do not own CA, I have no clue. But I think someone said that it then gets controlled by AI.

I have flown the CA campaign without having CA, I have only controlled the aircraft.
