Lets start answering the question by referring to the concept of simulated training:

 

-Enemy uses its dedicated air superiority fighter radar to get first BVR shot.

 

Lets face it:

F-5EM is very Limited in all aspects. No matter how good the radar on the tiger is, the shear difference of antenna size compared to every other fighter included the mirage 2000 ofsets any tencnological quality the F-5 radar electronics might have. The radome is miniscule.

The size of teh radar will not be a problem in this case because the missile CAN BE FIRED with the use of the R-99

 

In others words the missile can be fired even if the F-5 radar is off

 

the R-99 will pas the info from the target to the F-5 computers and from there they will update de missile direction by datalink

 

And i also get the data from the radar

 

It uses the Grifo X

 

Look-up More then 39,8nm (73,6Km)

Look Down/Shoot More then Down 27,5nm (50,8 Km)

 

This info was collected in the LAAD

Yes, the countries should have a strong defensive force, and to fight illegal coke cultivation and smuggle, but there is no real A-A threat, except for the occasional smuggler. You are not puppets, but 'close allies', allowing them to place their bases on your territory, even if the people don't want it.

 

What exactly is the operational (high-low-high) range of the upgraded F-5? And what kind of radar guided missiles can it employ?

Force we dont have any USA bases in Brazil...

 

The range for the F-5 is not bigger then the old version...ai dont think it can be more then 500 Km to 600 Km

 

Actually the FAB is choosing one yet they have made some tests with the Derby but other options are being avalieted ( Darter )

 

the AIM-120 was descarted because the USA dont release the source code to Brazil and the integration have to be made by USA people

 

About the A-A threat i dont like those SU near in an certain contry :music_whistling:

I Mean the AWACS pass to the figther the enemy position and so the from this point the figther can launch the missile and update its course with datalink based on the info he gets from the AWACS ?

wsoul2k, Just about any aircraft with a datalink can do this - get info from AWACS, forward to missile datalink. If your radar supports TWS launch, then it probably supports this too (probably, not necessarily, as this requires the cooperation of two different systems)
