Weta43 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) <Blaze> I've used your quotes, but only because you've captured the mood of the thread so well, not to specifically point you out, & this is a general response to the thread... I'm glad that he feels accomplished by killing 4 AI. We should all be :) . Everyone has to start somewhere, and if people can't get past they are taken out by every AI they face, they're never going to continue with the SIM, and the comunity will die, and then so will E.D.'s business. The OP took out 4 AI on his own. That's real progress that deserves some recognition. I'm sure there was a time when every poster in this thread felt the same sense of achievement taking out their first AI opponent. Yes, it's a good thing to point out that the AI don't fight as well as human players do on-line, and that before the OP goes on line they'll have to improve their tactics by "your helpfull advice goes here" (that is if they have any intention of going online - the bulk of DCS purchasers appear to be quite happy sitting in SP). You need to be open-minded if you want to learn, even if that includes your "feel good" moments being crushed ever so often. I know it's tough, but that's how it works. Is it ? Why crush that moment when it's unnecessary and doesn't add to the lesson ? "You think you're good, but you're a bit sh*t, and you need to do this to survive on-line" Is exactly the same number of characters to type as : "Congratulations, that's a good start, but online you need to do this when playing humans" __________________________________________ Cap'n kamikaze - it may not have come across to you that way, but I have no doubt the intention was to offer helpful advice, & that you would come along faster if you could hear that advice. TAW_Blaze Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Is it ? Why crush that moment when it's unnecessary and doesn't add to the lesson ? Because it's paradox. It would be ludicrous to tell him how well he did if the opponent has the fighter pilot skills of a cat. Not that I'm very good when it comes to comforting people. :D I didn't word my first post the way I did because I wanted to make him feel bad, I did it because I wanted to highlight how ridiculous the AI behaviour is. They get taken out by shots that would not even bother a player, and they forget to fire from winning positions against recomitting bandit around 6-8 miles and just turn around trying to defend. And that's just the ones that stick out the most. I also can't really understand how anyone, especially fighters, would want to stay offline. I can accept it, but I'll probably never understand it. Regardless though, my advice would help him against AI just as much. That is if he can see it, because behind those "unfriendly" bunch of letters, it is very good advice after all. So far it seems he doesn't want to.
FLANKERATOR Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 Blaze's piece of advice is valuable no doubt but I have to agree that it was not conveyed in an appropriate way. Starting against AI is not a bad idea in my opinion, this is good to get a good grasp of how the avionics work etc. The transition to MP will be trickier for sure but I think it is better to know how to operate the systems first before going PvP rather than not. I'm sure a lot of people have gone down the same road, I have as well. Situational Awareness: https://sa-sim.com/ | The Air Combat Dojo: https://discord.gg/Rz77eFj

Albeit OP seems to handle the avionics allright, he seemed to have found the bandits in time despite all the turning. :)
Frostie Posted June 1, 2016 Posted June 1, 2016 I don't think the OP regards himself as a beginner, after all he was instructing half the forum on their failure to understand the capabilities and use of R-27ER eight months ago. :D "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'.
