chlywly Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Complete noob here, used to play Microprose F15 back in the DOS days lol. Just wondering if there is a guide to setting up a HOTAS/Keyboard for the F15C? Wondering what are the ideal, and completely necessary commands to map to my HOTAS/Joy. Thanks
Fionn Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Dunno if there is a guide. But some people here will be able to advise. Ones that are musts for me; radar range, radar slew, weapons change, radar on, target mode, radar mode, flares, chaff, air break, weapon and gun fire, and centre view, as I use POV hat for view, I've no head tracking etc.
Shabi Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I would try some downloadable setups to see how they feel to you, but don't stick with it too long or you'll get glued to someone else's idea of what goes where and what's important. Learn how to make your own and incrementally add functionality, experimenting with different layouts. For my (x52) setup I have radar slew on the main hat, radar elevation and width on the throttle hat (or sometimes pinkie-main). The secondary stick hat is the fire/radar modes and radar on/off. Shift sec hat is radar range zoom. Lock/unlock on the throttle, countermeasures on a stick button. The big button on the stick thumb is actually reserved for voice comms and things like that. The toggle switches are for low priority things like fuel pod eject, gear, nav lights, engines on/off etc. I fly in VR so had to get everything on there, if you are using a keyboard though it will be simpler. Learn and relearn how to assign things and you will fall into a groove eventually. feefifofum Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 (edited) Not sure what you're using for a HOTAS but as for Important Stuff That You Have to Get to Quickly: Gun fire. (space) Weapon release. (lalt+space) Cannon mode. © RADAR on/off (i) BVR mode (2) Boresight mode (3) Vertical scan mode (4) RWS/TWS mode select (ralt+i) Pulse repetition frequency (rshift+i) Scan zone increase (rshift+) Scan zone decrease (rshift -) Scan zone up (not sure..find under "sensors" menu) Scan zone down (not sure..find under "sensors" menu) Target lock (enter) Target unlock (backspace) TWS target unlock (shift+backspace I think) TDC slew up/down/left/right ( , . / ; ) you can also bind this to an axis if one if available Weapon select (d I think) release flares (not sure) release chaff (not sure) ECM (E) Put all of that crap somewhere you can get to it easily without looking away from your screen; if you have extra buttons left you can start looking at some of the luxury items like lights/gear/etc. Hope that helps! :) Edited June 3, 2016 by feefifofum THE GEORGIAN WAR - OFFICIAL F-15C DLC
