Is this known? Didn't see anything in Skate's known bugs list post.

Flew in multiplayer with several other non-Rift users including the server. I went back today to look at the track (flown Wed. night). Unplugged the Rift, closed OH, launched DCS and tried to replay (full screen, non rift mode).

At spawn, the camera isn't in the right place. That's not a big surprise as it's always somewhere out of / above the jet when I start, and I have to Num-5 to get into the seat. However, that doesn't seem to work on the replay....I can't view from within my jet.

Did a LCtrl-F11 to watch the flight from the outside. Try to padlock on my jet and the jet is not centered. When I try to zoom in, it seems to zoom on the wrong spot, throwing my jet out of the frame.

Track plays, but none of the views are right. Even trying to pan around with the mouse on the ground doesn't help.

I got a copy of the flight from a non-rift user and it plays perfectly.

Could be. I've got a couple more multiplayer flights I can check...I thought I experienced the same on a previous one, but I'm not sure.

In the meantime, to clarify, this was on:

1.5 Stable

Rift CV1

OH 1.4

GTX-980Ti

Tracks tend to go weird when resolution changes etc. will look into it some more.

That could well be it - can't play back at the same resolution since Rift's resolution isn't in the list.

All 3 of my multiplayer tracks behave the same way.

I'll record some tracks this weekend and see what they play back like, when rift is disabled.

I know I have some tracks that I recorded and played back a few times in rift (Virtual Airshow for myself basically, recorded the track and then placed myself on the tarmac and watched..).

I know a bunch of other members that recorded and played back tracks for their friends.

The Issue might be camera tracks to a specific aspect ratio / resolution, when changed the camera is offset, 2160x1200, You can try and run a reduced 1.8 aspect ratio resolution in a window. (ie 1280x711)

(You'd have to manually entire the res/aspect ratio into the Saved Games/DCS.<install>/config/options lua

I Upsample my Monitors to 2160x1440p that way if I need to run a Window at the same res of the Rift the entire thing will display and not go off the screen.

Gotcha. Did you try watching them in the Rift?

That can be done of course, but no padlock or zoom (ie can't watch a pass from show center - looks like ants marching across the screen :D )

External Cams Should Still have the Move Close/Farther and FoV Wide/Tight Options.

Playing back the track with the Rift works fine with the following caveats:

1: I couldn't zoom/FOV change at all. I could of course (when in appropriate views) move the camera around with keys / mouse wheel...but no FOV zoom.

2: You can padlock...but in order to designate, you have to be looking "normal" with the Rift - I can't look over my shoulder and padlock something - it will padlock based on where I'd be looking if I were looking straight ahead.

3: Wanna know a fast way to get disoriented / vertigo / sick? Start watching a track where the pilot is looking all over the place and then try to move your own head. Whoa. :D

Cool. Sounds definitely like it's an issue with resolution change then as Skate said! There are far too many track bugs in DCS, hopefully ED will revamp the system as part of the recent engine/core updates.

Yup. Having a blast. It was so cruel to have my OR arrive with one night's flying time before I left the country for 10 days hah.

So we’ve seen some interesting things…

In _1.5.3_…

I was never able to properly “view” my own Rift-flown tracks from outside the Rift. As stated before, when I would view with the Rift unplugged the view would always look in the wrong direction…didn’t move properly with camera movement keys (external views)….padlock would point at the wrong point in space, etc. We flew the recent airshow (VBB) with 3 pilots wearing Rifts. We all passed our tracks on to someone else. Mine and Panthers were messed up. The other person’s track played fine.

At the time I had my Rift “camera” off my right shoulder. Panther had hers at about 11:00 (also messed up). I’m not sure where Ray had his, but his track worked with no issues.

So far in 1.5.4 I have not been able to duplicate the issue on my own…single player, flying with other VTB or flying on the VA server - all tracks play back properly without Rift now.

Too bad for the current netcode bugginess with 1.5.4…

w/ Tracks, Changing Resolutions etc have always caused desync issues,

As for View Orientation, I believe it was fixed w/ the updated head tracking controller, introduced w/ 1.5.4.

-----

As for the Netcode, we are looking into the issue.

However if you have tracks that you can submit (that dont require any special modules),

By All means, zip them and attach them to the Netcode Thread for the devs.

(by special modules I mean custom Modules, the tracks would have to be 1.5.4 modules without mods).

Unless you want to share your module w/ the devs, but it would be easier for them to view tracks of aircraft already part of DCS.

I'll be glad to submit something tonight on the netcode. Do you want it in the thread Tango started or is there an official one I've missed?

Thanks!

As it's not a VR Issue and that's the thread we are watching for any information.

Tracks are something tangible that can be downloaded and played on the dev machines and they can look at debug data,

YT Videos of behavior can only represent the issue, they cannot gather any debug data from YT videos.
