SkateZilla Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 For all the users that want Future Leap Motion Support etc for hand tracking..... There's now some competition in that area, Microsoft is developing an Kit w/ Oculus to use their Kinect II units to track hand and body for VR. Likely for Xbox One VR Games coming next Winter (Winter 2017), But will also work on Windows w/ Kinect II Drivers. --------------------------------- Now for my Opnion.. I've used Leap Motion and it was plagued with high CPU usage, incredible latency, and tracking issues, though I was told recent versions are A LOT BETTER. I have however had Zero Problems with Kinect and Kinect II. Kinect II which has been aborted from Xbox One following it's launch due to backlash from consumers, was presumed dead, though it sold extremely well in the private Research and Medical Field, as the device can track a bunch of vitals accurately just by standing in front of it. Kinect II May have just found a saving grace in the entertainment market as a VR Tracking device. SageOT Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 That's good news. Have to admit, I've been a little worried about the Rift's future. I love mine, and for DCS it seems to be the stronger platform (just going by the reviews) but it appeared Vive might be winning the overall market... Glad to see MS is interested in the Rift. Hopefully that means both VR systems will be here to stay. VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Carrier Strike Group One | Discord
Purg Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Ooh, I have a Kinect and Kinnect 2. Very interesting. Rift vs Vive sales? I'd have thought the Rift would have been well ahead in numbers. They also seem to be on more solid footing with a $2bill cash injection vs HTC that have at times been struggling.
